The S is actually a luxury vehicle

The Model 3 is an electric corolla

I’m building a hotel now in Atlanta that will have chargers. Not superchargers as they were an afterthought and now it’s too late in construction to add the necessary electrical infrastructure. The next hotel that will be built adjacent to this one will have superchargers.

So I'll make my point and we can move on.

    1. January-June of last year was rough sorting out production. Once they figured it out from June till December, their cash position improved from 2.2 Billion to 3.68 Billion even after paying a 230 million debt obligation in Nov and posted 450 million in profits (which as an investor I wish they would stop focusing on profits) between the 2 quarters. Why? because they started producing cars efficiently, new battery lines, etc.

    2. If they wanted/needed to cash they would have already done a capital raise to pay their 920 million dollar debt obligation. They paid it in cash because they can. No bank or investment firm would say no to giving them more cash if they needed it.

    3. If everything went batshit south at the very least every automaker in the world would try and buy Tesla, why? They have their own battery factory and 3 compelling EV's already. It would be like Jeep to FCA.

Yea I more ment a local service center cause I figure you'd set up home charging.

** Sidenote: I'd look into what EV tax breaks the state of Florida has, just an FYI I think the Federal gov tax break of $3750 gets halved on June 1st or July 1st. Assuming you are eligible for it.

Because its a tax credit, I don't know what your tax situation is. End date is 6/30 for the $3750 rebate, then it will be halved to $1875 till the end of the year then its gone.

These are the Florida EV breaks I see. Plus you'd be eligible for the HOV lane.

Yea south Florida is littered with tolls. Don't really have them up here in Jax as of now but they've been working on one that's going to be the main highway by my house. There will be a no toll option though. The toll will just the fast lane I guess.

I knew a ballpark but I'd never built one. I was building Grand Cherokees so figured I'd do a Tesla. I've never said anything bad about the cars themselves. I appreciate them for pushing the auto market as a whole. That doesn't mean I can't be critical of Musk and the company or point out that they aren't practical yet for a lot of people. Some people struggle with being able to do that.

not to beat the charging discussion further into the ground but the to-be-released-by-the-end-of-2019-maybe porsche taycan supports 350 kW charging and Electrify America has started building those stations (and Porsche themselves have announced they'll invest in building more).

I guess it'll remain to be seen if Tesla could via a software patch have their vehicles use 350 kW chargers or if it's a physical limitation.

I'll give you my opinion, I'm an investor to disclose any potential biases but you can determine if what I'm saying makes logical sense yourself.

The headlines are more sensationalized then whats actually going.

-They've had data that 80% of folks order their car online with 78% doing it without a test drive. They had something like 300 stores, which apparently accounted for 20% of sales. So they decided to close some, NOT all like some media has reported so far its resulted in about 30 store closures. This is a move in efficiency and reducing overhead, all sales will be done online.

-They are looking to EXPAND service centers not close them. Elon has stated this is his biggest goal for 2019 multiple times and they are making positive steps forward with this. (See the new North American parts distribution being built in Lathrop, CA)

    i would definitely wait.

TSLA itself seems to be in complete disarray. they announce they're closing their stores and, just today, reverse that decision (though it's officially unannounced) as it comes out they hadn't figured out that you can't just up and break your leases (and that they in their 10-k write about how important their stores and galleries are...). they've had multiple rounds of layoffs over the last year and are reportedly cutting hours of contractors and other part-time staff. they've had dozens of senior leaders leave within the last year+. and that's ignoring elon's blowup on twitter. i believe they're cash-strapped and struggling to sell cars this quarter.

but more imporantly, you'll have far more options from other car makers next year. mercedes, volvo, jaguar, porsche, and the asian companies are all set with 2020 models.

Yea, also heres source info for my statements regarding service below.

Elon from the Q4 earnings call:
"I want to note that one of our major priorities this quarter is improving service operations. So really, from my standpoint, when I think about what my priorities are this quarter, it's improving service in North America. That's number one. "

the counter to this, though, is that musk talked about fixing this problem in the fall and hasn't yet despite giving a timeline that says he should have already. (never mind the hilarity of a car manufacturer not realizing it will need to service its cars...)

    http://www.thedrive.com/tech/26173/tesla-service-center-expansion-stuck-in-infrastructure-hell

he's a known bullshitter. when Tesla couldn't produce and deliver its cars properly, he talked about building his own fleet of delivery trucks. he's tweeted some horseshit about turning the next generation of the roadster into a literal flying car. he lied about the buyout for tsla. he's lied about "full self driving" and tesla has actually had to edit their website this week. he's lied about dozens of other things.

what makes anyone think he'll follow through here? especially considering how quickly they announced (and then reversed? maybe?) their decision on the galleries and stores? what if, a year from now, tesla decides to close service centers and move towards a 100%-mobile service center strategy?

The mobile service center idea is interesting, my buddies taillight needed to be replaced, instead of having to drive all the way to Tampa to get it done, they came to his house and fixed it. He was happy with that....

They also said this would take months to decide what stores to close.

You bang this drum constantly but havent shown any facts to support your claim

None of these are competitors specs wise or price wise. Also none are American made.

-the polestar only going to launch in California and Washington in 2020 first costing 63k
-Jaguar Ipace is a nice looking car but has terrible power consumption and range also costs 69k
-Porsche may have something with the Taycan but are making maybe 20,000 units (for reference Tesla makes 100k S&X yearly)
-None of these other cars have even started, have terrible specs, cost too much, will only produce a few

Even a German source for how behind Europe is

    Ah Ed Nedermeyer.

For one Elons tweet was about geographic service coverage not # of service centers.

In that article you provided from January some of the service center locations Ed discusses have already opened, some are still under construction, and some seem to be dealing with state legal issues like NJ/NE.

Additionally the North American parts distribution center is physically being built with job openings on the website so thats a focus on parts for repairs and body damage. They've opened some new body shops since sept and have openings for service techs and mobile rangers.

Also part of service is communications, which they needed to improve. They've started to offer self scheduling appts in areas where they pick up your car at work or home and take it in for repairs or repair it there etc.

Is there room for improvement? Yes, but they've acknowledged it and are working towards it.

He's been off the mark on certain calls but lately he's been much better with timelines: Model Y reveal, 35k Model 3 announcement, back to back profitable quarters, no cap raise, Supercharger V3, etc.

The drum he really bangs is about demand this quarter, and if so this purchase to have more trucking power seems bullish in a demand respect.

As far as the contract negotiated over shares vs cash who knows. Maybe they feel tight this quarter because of paying back debt, severance packages, and less deliveries due to switching to international. The difference is Handcuff is preaching no deliveries and bankruptcy imminent.

    Lol Jesus Christ

He purchased the trucks because he tweeted out a lie last year that Tesla was buying trucks. This was to avoid another raid charge

Buying in stock vs cash is bearish no matter how you look at it

If you have “2.5 billion” in cash you don’t pay 14m in stock unless you think your stock is overpriced
