I actually had a thought in the shower the other day like wow it’s so nice Omar Gonzalez doesn’t get a look at the USMNT any more he was such a bum. The forward group lol. I bet we’d score more if we played the bundesliga midfield as the front 3
I feel like American culture would have lended itself to producing like 12 really good forwards and nothing else, but idk. That group is pretty sad, really.
I'm glad I don't care enough anymore to get upset. Just so dysfunctional to the core that it's always going to be the same bullshit.
i see no benefit since they’re too good for the u20s they should be playing at the highest levels possible either with the senior national team or staying with their club teams imo
I don’t think either would be at the U20 World Cup but could see them for the U23 Olympic qualifying team this summer. Thread:
McKennie was moved to right back today against City and you can tell it's because Sane is basically his assignment. He's done a great job through 30 minutes.
I’m like you, but he did quietly receive good reviews from many observers. I don’t think he belongs on the roster. Maybe Berhalter is projecting that in 3 years Baird will be an asset.
granted, i have no clue what he does for his MLS team, i just know the 2 games he played with the NT he had horrible touch.
His touch is a problem at RSL too. I don't think it’s good enough, at least right now, to go against top international defenders.
Miles Robinson has looked incredible so far for Atlanta this year. Completely locked down and dominated Funes Mori last night who is probably the best forward any MLS side will see this year. If we can start scoring goals people might actually notice and not just talk about how miserable we are going forward. He has the athleticism for international play and is starting to look far more comfortable on the ball.
I think it’s showing more that Yedlin may not fit what’s needed. And Adams isn’t a 6, so he’s not pushing those two out of the way.
I’m sorry but that’s a gross exaggeration of what that player does. Occasionally they slide in and play in the middle but they are mostly staying on the right, especially against teams that are going to beat us possession wise. This is a massive waste of Adams ability to cover ground and break up play.
And Weston can play they cover ground and break up play role. So with “duel 10s” who ya gonna leave out, McKinnie or Adams? This is about experimentation and instilling a system still. And even as little as two years ago, Adams was being projected to have world class abilities at Right back.
That interview with GGG he said he brought a lot of players in from the first camp so he had a foundation to help install his system with the new guys. He mentioned they only have a week and he wouldn’t be able to get him them up and running properly with a brand new 24. 100% that’s why players like Baird and Lovitz are in there.
Nations League is the end of this year, and there’s a chance they’re doing going away with the Hex. Which means a good chance we don’t play Mexico at all during WCQ and play a bunch of shitty island countries.
Good. Had concerns about Wes with the management change and not knowing how it might impact his standing
Not sure saying Gonzalez sucks is the truth. Not saying he is the GK I would have called up but he is still only 23 and has had a lot of spurts where he is one of the better GKs in MLS. I'm not ready to give up on his future especially considering the fact that this was a kid a lot of people wanted to spurn Mexico and switch back to USMNT like he did.
Gonzales isnt that great, but its better to bring in a young guy. He is still really young and can still improve some. Need to develop depth.
Gonzalez has regressed for 3 straight years. His shot stopping is sub par and he has an awful time playing out of the back with the ball at his feet. I was ecstatic when he chose us over Mexico but he hasn’t progressed at all. Maybe it’ll click some day. Good thing is he still has 17 years in his career to proceed.
