It’s about your total dollars given to your URFA vs money spent other teams URFA. So any dollars that come in from scrubs like White is a bonus because most the $ thought to come in was from Amos and Callahan.
I would be a little surprised if that’s how it plays out. Gotta figure they offered the same deal Skrine got to Callahan and he had better money on the table so they moved on. They are very similar players. Neither are play makers on the call. I think Skrine is the better coverage NB but Callahan is cleaner aka won’t commit as many penalties. Skrine is going to be playing in front of a better front 7 so hopefully that improves his play
Yeah I’ve heard a lot about Skrine’s PI’s from Browns fans since the signing, told them he’s only gotta cover for about 2 seconds in Chicago before the rush gets home. He should be fine here.
It’s a large formula. It factors in production, salary amongst other things. At this point we need our free agents to all sign
Anyone else see the Bears 100th year celebration weekend June 8-10? I guess they’re going to have all kinds of former players (Butkus, Singletary, Dent, Hampton) current players (Mitch, Mack, Hicks, Cohen). I guess there’s photo ops, autographs (which I don’t really care about) but listening to the old stories from Bears greats would be awesome.
Dang. Was hoping the market would dry up and we would have a chance to get him on the cheap. Also saw we got that speedy WR from Atlanta, don’t know if anyone’s mentioned it.
Bears still have 15m in cap.... Justin Houston, Gould (if tag is rescinded) or another kicker still in play
It was never that the Packers themselves didn't know where they were, it's that sources told Silverstein that their cap position was different than what people outside the team have reported. Aaron Nagler says they have 13 and they typically keep $8 million free going into the year which gets you to the 5 Silverstein reported
Justin Houston to the Colts, 2 years at 24 mill, that price pretty much eliminated us. Wouldn’t mind seeing Lynch brought back since the edge rusher market has dried up. Would hate to draft for need in April and we’d almost be locked into getting an edge rusher in the 3rd if we don’t sign one before then. Unless the staff is confident Fitts is the guy...
https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/chicago-bears/ This site is saying 17 mill without the Bray O’Donnell signings. I’d say around 15 mill?
Read that a bit ago. Pace seems to knownhis stuff. I think we’re out of edge options. What would you guys think if we signed Suh to 1 yr $10 million?
Maybe bring Lynch back as a minor move for depth. I don’t see Pace making any more major moves like Suh. We really have filled all holes on the roster. It’s about building depth via the draft. I think the pressing need if you want to call it that is at safety. Jackson, Dix Bush is our DC right now for the two spots. Both Dix and Bush are FA after this season. Jackson in two years. My guess is we select a safety in the third... love Thornhill but at this point I think he’s going R2. Savage from Maryland is a nice prospect as is Hooker from Iowa both should be on the board when we select.
Yeah no thanks to Suh, I don’t see Virginia letting that signing happen anyway. I think Lynch maybe the best option at getting a backup edge, unless Fitts has made that jump. I think we’ll move Howard and take a RB in the 3rd.
Even if we did move howard I wouldnt want a rb in the 3rd. I would give carries to patterson. Patterson has played rb previously and its not like we would be asking him for 20 carries a game.
I think there’s a bunch of 2nd 3rd round RB’s this year so you maybe able to find some value there. We got Howard in the 5th right? Cohen in the 4th. You can definitely get a good RB in the 3rd.
This RB class is below average. You can get the same type of prospect in round 6 that you would select in R3. We really need to go DB round 3 and its not really a question.... I would go... DB TE RB Edge OL
I feel like we always here the X class is below average. Just 2 years ago we heard about how bad the QB class was and that there was no 1st round talent in the draft and here we are with Watson, Trubsiky, and Mahomes.
QB class is always shit on... They did say the class two years ago was awful. I didn't I was one of the guys saying there was some really good talent and dying for the Bears to draft Mahomes. I don' think the narrative from the media is that the RB class is below average. You see people hyping Jacobs as a 1st round RB. I think the media is saying we don't have that elite (SaQuon, Zeke, Gurley) type back. I personally don't think this class is very good at all. My top 3 backs are all graded as R2/3 and the guys below them are all decent with big flaws and no one stands out.
https://247sports.com/nfl/chicago-bears/Article/Jordy-Nelson-to-retire-from-the-NFL--130573641 Special jerseys for the 100th anniversary season, I damn sure hope it’s not the vertical stripe throwback worn during the 75th season
Posted in the NFL thread that I bet we make a run at Ware or Ajayi. No way we enter the season with Davis, Cohen, and Patterson at RB.
Signing Mike Davis for a little less than we could have signed Tevin Coleman for and then trading Howard seems bad.
I think that was the Davis move. But we shall see.. I would be fine with Davis, Cohen, Rookie and Patterson as the DC
Id take it, him or Higdon would be decent late. I think Weber is probably a better receiving back so that’d work better for Nagy’s system.
