I would say the development of our players has lacked, and have been slower than other coaches. I wouldn't necessarily put that on Ham, but he is the Head Coach. Our defenses have always been terrific, which is what he demands, but our offenses have been better the last couple years compared to years past.
Ham's teams can still go through some stretches on offense that are really tough to watch (though not as many as in previous years). He probably would have gotten fired two different times in his tenure at most schools. However, the team generally plays hard for him and there isn't any drama around his program. That probably helped him when his job was in question and he rewarded them by going on his best multi year runs after those low points. Even when we have a bad team they'll go like 8-10 or something and not pack it in and go 3-15. I was around for the Steve Robinson era and it was just hopeless taking the court without ACC players. If we were to fire him and make another hire like that, we would be playing on Tuesday at the ACC tourney for a decade.
Leonard is a great recruiter. The criticism is the coaching - doing less with more. I dont think today is any different.
We don’t have a Maryland thread because most people would rather commit seppuku than root for them but this feels like as good a place as any to laugh at them for losing to Nebraska
On paper, by recruiting sites, he does. Within ACC 2015- #4 2016- #2 2017- #4 2018- #13 but took 1 player 2019- #4
Unc was going to have him walk on. We were so damn close to landing him till Roy said he would get a scholarship and....he was gone.
Idk, I'm not familiar with everyone roster and who they have left etc. He pretty much recruits at the level he finishes in the acc.
he was coming regardless of a scholarship. we had one available once ingram picked duke but he had already committed by then
I thought I heard something similar with Grayson Allen. Hamilton had him and then he blew up and duke offered.
yeah he was gonna pay his own way until the spot opened up the next year with brice/marcus/joel james graduating. but then ingram picked duke and it came open earlier than expected
IIRC Tony really wanted Luke but settled for Jared Reuter, Who was skilled but all of 6’5 and promptly transferred to George Mason where he’s done nothing since
