Her cancer is back and it sounds like she’s got about a year to live. Fuck cancer. In other good Top Chef alum news, Isabella’s food empire in the DC area has absolutely disintegrated. Obviously the harassment charges did not help, but it sounds like he was papering over financial issues for over a year.
That is terrible on Fatima. https://www.bonappetit.com/story/fatima-ali-cancer I am going to one of Nina's restaurants this weekend in New Orleans.
Geez After the trips, Caras claimed, the partners named cocktails at the restaurants for these sexual encounters. One drink, the Crossing Guard, was supposedly named for a moniker Isabella had earned at a European brothel where he’d “directed each prostitute to service a particular partner and told her which sex act to perform on each partner.”
Guarantee their visitors bureau paid to make it happen... the last 4 or 5 seasons the locations have been heavily determined by the bidding of state and local chambers of commerce and visitors bureaus... check the credits
Spoiler That restaurant wars was rough. It was clear the venues weren’t ready and the temp staff didn’t have time to familiarize themselves with tables, and potentially the best chef went home because of it. That said she was absolutely dreadful up front
She had to go home but it was bullshit. Why are they all given such garbage servers? Seems to happen most years. But she didn't have a good system at all and it had to go that way.
Sounded like LCK will bring someone back next week? Have to imagine she moonwalks back in the door if so.
surprised the Asian went home, again. I still dont know why Graham Elliott is on this show. He's not a talented or knowledgable guy, and he is a douche to boot.
both those tartare dishes looked terrible really get tired with the crudo/tartare raw dishes where the chef's circumvent the cooking challenges within a time limit and act like their knife skills and plating should prevail
thought tonight was by far the best episode of the season and the best cooking they've done all year. you could tell they all felt really good about the meal and put a lot into it
i am shocked they actually showed who won lck. i was all set to turn it off after they finished cooking but let it go instead and wow Spoiler i think she can win. i thought both could win, but he seemed to get in his head more than she did. looking forward to the last few weeks of the season
Eric has been my #1 this season. Hope he wins. Kelsey has by far exceeded my expectations. Really impressive. Adrienne sucks. Cant stand the SF/LA/NY centric chefs that cop out on the ceviches/crudos. I will grind that axe. And then she turns around and basically serves finger food. Just challenge yourself to provide a dish thats difficult to execute in that setting.
Doesn't feel like anyone outside Eric will be a breakout chef. His west African food I think could make him a star in the right place.
Looked up his “restaurant” in DC, apparently you just book him to come cook somewhere and his wife decorates the space/your home. Was disappointed.
That won't be the case for long I'm sure. Restaurateurs will line up to put them in a new project as a new voice of African-American cooking. Its an easy sell.
Spoiler I thought for sure Sara had it. Wonder if it's like last year where the editing made it seem closer than it was. The family picture at the end was a great touch. Such a cute baby
Yea I think the editing was done to add suspense. Kelsey's 1st, 2nd and 4th dish were all winners imo. Both of them were really impressive all season long. And I had low expectations for them. Crazy to think they were both trained at the same restaurant in new york. Eric still my favorite chef from this season, but he too often would make mistakes in execution. Whereas Kelsey seemed to always execute while pushing the envelope. She was good on Hugh Acheson's podcast this week.
They almost always seem to show the runner up with the more favorite dishes. Its weird editing and I hate it.
Sara really got better at the end. Thought she was pretty average the first half of the season. Kelsey killed it the entire season, she just gameplanned so well for the various challenges and was always a step ahead of everyone else.
I thought Eric and Michelle were the most talented but Kelsey was certainly consistent enough to win.
From Discover on Google https://www.washingtonpost.com/amph...ongs-finale-meal-this-is-what-it-tastes-like/ Chef Eric made the wapo team his "top chef finale meal"
Started watching Top Chef this year, S16, and have since watched seasons 4 and 5 on Amazon. Love this show.
The first season I ever watched of this show was last season, and since, I've actually watched seasons 4, 5, 11, and I'm currently watching Kevin Gillespie's season which is 6. Also, the word on the street is that it'll be all-stars this year.
