Was convinced I was quitting Dota in early January (when we both took a break). I uninstalled and deleted all my Dota contacts. Had played 1 game in about 60 days. Now Obviously I’m back playing because the game is in a much better place than it was when I wasn’t having fun and I’m actually really enjoying Dota again.
So I was messing around with Magnus in demo and think I discovered a bug. If you buy necrobooks on the hero and empower the melee creep, it ends up doing like 150% cleave damage on indirect targets instead of 75% like it says. You guys should try it out and see if you can figure out if I'm crazy and there's something I'm not accounting for. Seems like you could farm insanely fast doing that.
OK for whatever reason it only happens when attacking heroes, not creeps. So, definitely a bug, but not exploitable for farming.
dota is such a catch 22 play support, have to rely on shitdicks to carry, which rarely ever happens play carry, have to rely on people to support and buy vision/dust/etc, which rarely ever happens
Idk I’ve had pretty good luck in my bracket recently with decent carries tbh. Ranked Roles queue has helped with that A LOT I think, since people who queue safe land tend to be main carry players, main mid players, etc. Also, last night someone insta-picked cm on my team and played pos5, so I played BH at the 4 and YIKES is that hero OP right now
Aside from us being fucking awful in party queue, Dota is really fun right now. Love the meta. Viper still a little too OP but otherwise I think most heroes are pretty good place. Up to Legend 2, have like a 75% win rate since calibration.
As far as new heroes, I saw pangolier and some fairy thing... what’s the new guy that looks like a pugilist with a shield and spear (believe he puts up a disruptor type ring/arena?)
Since you’ve been gone Pangolier Dark willow Grimstroke Mars Pangolier is by far the most fun of all 4. Dark willow and Grim were OP when released but balanced now.
Forgot about Grimstroke, seems like a very standard support that I would have enjoyed. He and Pangolier get a lot of play in the little high-MMR matches I’ve watched.
Grim is now situational, you really need other heroes that benefit from his linking ult spell, like Lich or Bane’s fiend grip or Lion ult, etc.
Here’s Mars ult + Dark Willow’s ult (makes you run back to base). Mars ult barrier causes damage if you touch the walls.
Handcuffed and I party queue last night. got absolutely dumpstered game 1 against a snowballing god tier Tinker (THE FUCKING WORST), then had a close g2 with a techies who did absolutely fucking nothing and we lost a 60 minute game in a super depressing fashion.
My problem with party queue is I’m 3400 mmr but I can’t carry at that rank/mmr, so we always lose because I can’t play well enough.
Party queue is so all or nothing. Either we stomp some Peruvian stack or the stack we are teamed with take all the core roles and we get shit on. Even when it's just 2 of us.
that was fun. it had been several days since i hadn't been shit on in party queue. also, liked mr. redacted making the classic party queue mistake that i always make where you talk shit about your teammates in post game chat rather than party chat. "Silencer talked a lot" made me lol.
Game 1 was one of the biggest stomps I can remember us having in recent memory And there’s no reason we should have beaten a sniper/PA/WK lineup late game in game 2. Was concerned for a bit there.
Uh yeah two rax down at 20 minutes is super fast lol. Venge is godly. I was concerned with how many stupid deaths we had to sniper but things worked in our favor.
we were never really in trouble in g2 just because we were up so massively. PA didn't have a battlefury so she never had a lot of farm. and sniper went bkb even though silencer and i both pierce bkb and lifestealer doesn't particularly care about one either, especially with the abyssal. if that 4k item was an mkb or something then it's a scarier game. https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4536443985
anyone watching the major? secret, vp, and eg are all in the lower bracket. liquid lost in their bo1 after going to the lower bracket from group stages. only lgd is looking like a top team amongst the supposed best teams and that's without maybe.
Fnatic looks great this tournament, and Keen looked atrocious G1, then in the pieces of g2 and g3 I saw they were wiping the floor with EG. RTZ made some bad calls. Secret losing is really surprising. NIP vs EG in LB now, yikes
i didnt see g1 of the eg game or the start of g2. sounds like they threw g2/missed their timing though.
seems like eg got outdrafted pretty bad. bh seems like a terrible hero for s4, and sumail is trying to force this viper.
I don't get the viper pick in every game. It didn't seem to do anything. Feels like a hero that handicaps what Sumail can do. The BH seemed pretty shit as well.
