Biggest fight of the year in all likelihood tonight. PPV, 9:00 pm ET, Errol Spence Jr vs Mikey Garcia, David Benavidez vs J’Leon Love, Luis Nery vs McJoe Arroyo, Chris Arreola vs Jean Pierre Augustin. Spence-Garcia is one of the most purely intriguing fights on the sport’s schedule right now, and here we are, it’s fight week as Mikey Garcia looks to move up two weight classes and take a welterweight belt from an unbeaten young star. These are two of the best talents in boxing today. The rest of the card is your average pay-per-view undercard fare, basically. Benavidez is coming back from a 13-month layoff (the result of a suspension after failing a drug test for cocaine), and he’s facing a guy in Love who was once a prospect and is now just hanging around, his career never really recovering from an upset KO loss to Porky Medina in 2014. Nery is a terrific young fighter who’s had some weight issues at 118, facing the capable Arroyo. And Arreola is a heavyweight vet, a likable brawler attempting a comeback in his late 30s, facing an unbeaten but unproven opponent who hasn’t fought since Dec. 2017. Spence (24-0, 21 KO) is looking to make the third defense of the belt that he won from Kell Brook in 2017, having rather easily beaten Lamont Peterson and Carlos Ocampo in 2018. Garcia (39-0, 30 KO) is a highly talented four-division champion, winning belts at 126, 130, 135, and 140, but there are concerns about how he’ll handle the weight at 147.

It’s 100% accurate not sure how you can disagree. Does anyone legitimately think Garcia has a chance? ES isn’t just too big but also a great fighter. This isn’t a great small guy going up to fight a big bigger mediocre fighter this a great little guy fighting a great big guy. This fight is crazy.
just simply because Mikey is nasty. It’s not going to be a career changing win for Spence but I’m not going to call a win a loss. I’m going to give Spence his credit if he wins. It’s not a no-win situation in my opinion (and I’m not alone). Not to mention I believe Spence is cutting weight to take the fight.

In terms of court of public opinion, I don't see much upside for Errol here frankly. Fair or not, if he wins, it'll be doing what he was supposed to do against a smaller fighter. If he loses, he'll get knocked for losing to a natural lightweight, despite Mikey being special if that result happens. Winner gets the Pacquiao fight, which is the real upside, but again, I think Errol is in a tough spot re: public opinion, barring something truly special.
Excited for tonight. Like both fighters a lot so don’t have a real cheering interest other than a good fight. When the fight announced, Daniel Ocean said nobody would knock Mikey out but I agree with his changed prediction a couple posts ago haha Spence with a shot to the body ends it
Yeah I changed my mind. Not sure why it’s funny but the more I’ve thought.about it the more I think Spence is just too big.
The “haha” was just messing around. I think he is too big as well. Mikey is the man for taking the fight though.
Yeah my bad took it the wrong way and that’s on me not you. I originally thought Mikey’s heart, skill and intelligence in the ring would be enough to keep him from getting knocked out. I hope my original thoughts are correct.
I think Spence wins, but I think Mikey’s a decently live underdog. He just does so many special things in the ring that I can’t count him out.
