We love kids like Wes and Tyler, but I hope come 2026 they can’t sniff the USMNT because we’ll be too talented.
It’s a damn shame that the most talented out of that generation will end up playing for el tri. Really wish Efra would take the jump to Germany with all of his friends.
Its not terrible. Lets him learn the system and get bigger/stronger. He can also move to Dortmund II i think. Just like Sargent.
Nah, believe he's good to play for them before 18 if he were good enough. (Not expecting that but you never know) He has an eu passport like Pulisic, where Sargent and McKennie didn't which is why they had to wait until 18.
On a related note, this is why a lot of people have such high hopes for richie ledezma. The minimum salary for a non-eu player is like 200 thousand euros. () PSV had to really want him to be willing to pay that for a guy that young and unproven.
To be fair Wes and Tyler are like 19-20 years old starting for fringe UCL teams. If they can’t sniff the team in the prime of their career they have either had their careers cut short or our midfield will be one of the best 3-5 midfields in the world.
Cant agree more. We have more talent under 22 yrs old than over, but i dont see enough to push guys like Wes & Tyler off the USMNT. The quality we should have in 2026 should be light years better than what we trotted out last year.
He's played for both US and Mexico youth teams and more recently with Mexico. His parents are from Mexico from the story I read were upset he was playing for the US, so he switched to make them happy.
He started with the US. Something happened with the old regime and he didn’t get called up when he expected to and Mexico asked so he switched. His parents are first gen immigrants but both have said multiple times that they are happy that both teams are giving him the opportunity and no matter what he chooses they’ll be proud. He has a couple older brothers both chose college ball in the US. One plays in Mexico’s second division, the other for the Los Vegas Lights. I thought we were out when Llanez and Mendez said they were going to Germany (both great prospects) but luckily one of the Dos Santos was sold. He’s said multiple times they have been his “mentors”. Also, I’ve read that he’s said LAG2 coaches have told him to go to el tri. The fact Herc said it’s still up in the air gives me hope. He has a good relationship with the parents from what he’s said on his podcast.
Here is what I found, I obviously didn't remember correctly on what it said. Alvarez was born in nearby East Los Angeles to Mexican parents and used to represent his birth country at international level but decided to move to the Mexican youth national team program in 2016. "Something happened during my last training session with the U.S.," Alvarez told ESPN in September 2018. "My parents got mad and everything, and when I came to Mexico they told me that if I wanted to go there, they would support me going forward. So I took the decision to come [to Mexico] to see if I liked it, and when I got back I told them that I wanted to stay."
Seems qualified, but frustrating it took this long. He’ll have to get caught up ASAP on the player pool.
It was a weak booking, but a good lesson on maturity. Not to pout bc didnt get the call going the other way.
Dallas has a match next week, so didn't get released. Ledezma has been injured. This camp's roster could make a deep run at the U20 WC and that's w/o: Adams Sargent Weah Pomykal McKenzie Ledezma Sands Taitague (but he's always injured)
He’s not American bud. After seeing him play as a 15 year old I tried to form a grassroots campaign to get his family to move south of the border so he could get his citizenship but I forgot to print the pamphlets.
I would have quit the sport. Jonathan David apparently was born in NYC so he could have played for you guys. I found that out after he was already cap-tied to us and it still makes me uneasy.
Not too familiar. I know he payed with the Steel last year and in the Philly season previews I read he was always the “possible future young star”. He looked solid though.
Clearly in that B group, probably the top. Trusty, McKenzie, and Aaronson is a solid 3 for the U-23s. Don’t know much about their depth though. A: 1) RBNJ 2)FCD 3)SKC 4)SEA 5)RSL 6)LAG B: 7)PHI 8)ATL 9)TFC 10)NYC
Lindsay, Llanez, Soto, Amon all in the bench. Would of thought all 4 would start. Wish they streamed this somewhere.
