Good story on Tae Crowder today by me I mean Seth. His full name is Dequartavious, which is fantastic and he should start using it immediately. Pretty impressive for a guy in our program these days to come in as the lowest rated afterthought, survive a position change to the other side of the ball, and stick around long enough to become a legit contributor. Says a lot about his dedication and work ethic.
Dequartaviois should have a really good senior year imo. He was already great in coverage and seemed to get a better feel for angles and beating blockers to the point. He has the size and athleticism to be an every down LB. I’m excited about that whole group this year tbh
I’m a big fan of having talented personnel with different skill sets. Makes sense that we may need different dudes to be successful against UF/Auburn and simultaneously Notre Dame and Bammer.
Yea he was really good last year. Monty Rice too. I forget about him bc he missed a lot of time at the end of the season, right?
Tae and Monty were solid, but I think they were the best of an average bunch more than anything imo. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think they make us good enough in the middle to have the elite defense we want. We need Tindall to take one of those starting roles and run with it. I want to see Quay really show us something this year too.
They aren’t the best athletes we have at ILB but they know the defense and are usually in position. We play a ton of guys inside based on the opponent and matchups. They’re probably our two best LB on early downs stopping the run.
All that being said, I want Tae to be awesome. Very few guys from my high school go to UGA. Jordan Jenkins is the only other one I can think of. Taquan Marshall went there
I blamed Scott for our run d for awhile because I'm dumb. Then I watched more closely and noticed our mlbers never made the play
I'm no expert, but it seemed like you could blame both. Our DL very very rarely stuffed a guy in the backfield. The elite Bama and Clemson linemen swallow guys up. It was better when Jordan Davis played, but whenever he came out, those plays were basically non-existent. But yeah, the MLBs didn't seem to do their job either. We just weren't a great run defense, and it was annoying to watch at times.
We were better against the run towards the end of the year. I think we held snell to a really low number. Bama kind of ran all over us though iirc
Yea they did. I think our DL and LB were to blame for run D. Roquan Smith gave us an unrealistic expectation of an ILB, though.
there was always going to be a drop-off after Roquan. But like you'll are saying, it was an overall team D thing more than just our ILB IMO. Overall i just don't think we were aggressive enough on D and glad that sounds like it will be changing.
The Rams are saying that Gurley’s knee is fucked up and they might be looking into stem cell therapy. Hopefully it’s not career threatening, but the owner did say that they would have to lessen his workload and consider a “Batman and Robin” combination. Balls.
Social media is saying some honkey named Jackson Etter from Woodstock, GA just committed to UGA. Guy doesn't even have a profile on the recruiting sites. Anyone know anything about him? He's apparently a shooting guard in the 2019 class.
The baseball team has a pitcher, Cole Wilcox, who hit triple digits this weekend in our sweep of SCAR. His era is 7.20. In 15 IP, he’s given up 14 hits, 10 walks, and 12 ER. All of those numbers are shocking to me
How about Hancock's stat line this year? Appearances: 5 Record 5-0 ERA: 0.58 Innings Pitched: 31 Strikeouts: 37 BB: 8 OBA: .152
And Tony Locey meanwhile has 43 strikeouts in 29 innings. My expectations for the season were pretty low after losing Sasser and Bradley, but the squad has been impressive. Pitching has been strong and a lot of young bats have stepped up.
He started the year really poorly and has been better lately. Really smooth delivery for someone who throws that hard.
Spring practice starts today, fuck yeah. Had kinda forgotten that Netori was a DL now. Wonder if he'll ever see the field.
I actually am pretty excited to see them and the GAINS the sophomores have made. And I’d like to see Jermaine Johnson amongst the rest of his group...
