Oklahoma doesn’t really have a single identifiable trait on KenPom aside from a low FT rate on defense. Road to the elite 8 is well paved, but obviously we can’t count any chickens now
Didn’t realize McKay had been a HC for 10+ years before he was an Asst for Tony Bennett. Got Liberty playing well
You guys just had a wrestler, Jack Mueller, straight up murder the #1 seed. In the finals tomorrow night
Wasn't nervous before the game last night. Never really got nervous during the game. Past iterations of teams probably don't lose that game, but it's a lot closer with cold jump shooting.
M'ba, M'ba duba dop M'ba du bop, M'ba duba dop M'ba du bop, M'ba duba dop M'Ba du, yeah-e-yeah M'ba, M'ba duba dop M'ba du bop, M'ba duba dop M'ba du bop, M'ba duba dop M'a du, yeah-e-yeah Said oh yeah In an M'ba they're gone Yeah yeah
I just remember plenty of Sabre/247 posters not only convinced that MPJ was coming to UVA, but also that Trae would come with him.
Did anyone get a little bit of PTSD when Oklahoma started pressing with like 7 minutes left in the game? Their heart wasn't in it like Syracuse though
3 blocks and 2 rebounds shy of a triple double last game. Not sure if there’s ever been a points-rebounds-blocks triple double in the tourney before.
got curious and googled this. there have been four, but two are before stats were officially kept. https://www.kansascity.com/sports/college/ncaa/article228258024.html ▪ 1992 Shaquille O’Neal, LSU vs. Brigham Young, first round, 26 points, 13 rebounds, 11 blocks. ▪ 2009 Cole Aldrich, Kansas vs. Dayton, second round, 13 points, 20 rebounds, 10 blocks. ▪ 1971 Artis Gilmore, Jacksonville vs. Western Kentucky, first round, 12 points, 22 rebounds, 11 blocks. ▪ 1953 B.H Born, Kansas vs. Indiana, championship game, 26 points, 15 rebounds, 13 blocks.
outside of harris, i haven't been able to find anything from yesterday's proday. the daily progress wrote about it, but included no times or measurements. they said OZ ran well, but no times :(
I also commend Tony, who stuck by Salt through thick and thin, basically dropping him from the roster this tournament. Part of me feels bad for Salt that this is his senior campaign but overall its a net positive for the team. I can't feel positive after last night's bricklaying, but I do feel we match up well against Purdue. Interested to see how Tony deals with Edwards. Initially I thought we'd stick Deandre on him and let the rest of the team try to beat us, but now I'm betting we see Kihei most of the time and just take our lumps when we need to. If he's absolutely blowing us up with Kihei on him, we'll probably swap Deandre. Mostly worried about the offense at this point.
absolutely, the poise to find that instead of taking the easy hit ahead to Jerome or just freaking out and launching a shot of his own was huge
That game was such a rollercoaster of emotions. It had the trademark of all of UVA’s tournament losses, mainly running into a player that simply could not miss (and at a level I’ve never seen in CBB). But for every MF I dropped when Edwards would drain a ridiculous shot, Guy’s answers in the 2nd half were unreal
