Anyone had any problems with their child grinding their teeth at night? My three year old slept with me last night, and my goodness she goes non stop. DirtBall aren't you a dentist?
Funny you mention this, I was just talking to my wife about that this morning. My 3yo is doing the exact same thing.
6-30ish? Months? She is 3.5 yrs old. I know these teeth get replaced but man. She sounds like a car with no brake pads.
My daughter is also snapping her teeth together (biting motion), then grinding them for a few seconds. Does this sound similar? She is also 3.5 too.
It is normal and pretty common. I don't really care about it too much until they start getting permanent teeth. If they start showing damage to the permanent teeth then you can talk about a night guard. Until that point I wouldn't do anything. Now what is causing the grinding depends on who you ask. Some people will say they are just adjusting to their changes in bite from the growth of their skull. Other people advocate there are some issues with poor quality sleep. For people in the sleep camp they get further divided over whether there is something causing the disturbance or if it is just normal development. Problems could be something like sleep apnea and they have also shown a link between intestinal parisites and grinding. In my opinion if you kids snores and grinds then I would talk to the pediatrician about sleep apnea. It may be worth wile getting a sleep study to look into it further. With all that being said I wouldn't worry about it. It resolves 999/1000 times in kids before they are five or six. I would be curious if they grind when they are sleeping in their own bed. It could be that they are not getting quality sleep when everyone is in the bed together. I am a huge advocate of everyone sleeping in their own bed. I think you just hurt everyones chances of getting a good night sleep when you have everyone in the bed together.
This has been the winter from hell. My 4 year old has been sick probably 10 times since ‘school’ started this year. The cycle goes one week of fevers, coughing, puking from coughing, etc; one week of recovery; one week of no sickness; then immediately start it over again. It’s to the point where I’m worried about how he’s going to stay in school next year and beyond. (This is an entirely different and frustrating conversation.) The rest of the house probably catches half of the shit from him so there has been someone sick in my house since September. End pitiful rant.
Update again: it’s not asthma, just bacterial pneumonia and a double ear infection. I guess this is a good time to be excited about pneumonia.
My son has found, and now only wants to watch, Blippi videos on YouTube Kill me. This is dude fucking sucks
My 2 year old loves blippie at the playground. All I could think was I could act a fool like this guy and make money.
Blippi has ~10 billion YouTube views and is apparently worth $20 million. I want to live that life. I really like Blippi for my kids because it is a good mix between “educational” and entertainment. He is a pretty benign character imo and there is much much worse content out there for kids. There was no stopping him once he got rid of Nicky Notes.
I've never heard of blippi. A Google search informed me he has videos out of him spraying his explosive diarrhea onto his friends bare ass.
Lil Bish found out how to throw a tantrum recently. Just gets red in the face and does a sort of yell. What joy. He woke last night with a stuffy nose. Got him breathing and put him back in the crib. He then went into full tantrum. Became a good hour long ordeal at 1AM.
daughter measured in at the 96th percentile at the 20 week check awhile back, absolute unit. did the gestational diabetes check yesterday and wilford brimley is not the father. car seat/stroller arrived last week. taking a babymoon next week. starting to feel pretty real
Do anyone deal with the mother being over protective. I take care of the puppy sweetums bought for little man cause again it was too much. Every time I take the puppy down to see them, little man starts playing rough and ultimately falls down or something and gets hurt. She tells me she is gonna sell the dog (she’s not) at least every time I take her down to see them. I view it as just a boy being a boy and is gonna get bumps and bruises but she thinks I just don’t understand because little man is not my blood child. I feel like it’s just a woman thing on her part. Should I be more concerned about him getting knocked down and hurt. I mean he’s fine one minute later and back to playing with the puppy.
That's a mom being a mom. When we take walks in the afternoon my daughter rides her scooter and loves going down the steep driveways on houses under construction. I think it's fun, my daughter thinks it's the greatest thing in the world, and my wife is about to have a heart attack.
That's the bummer part. In a relationship where he's your kid, you have the authority to let that shit go and tell her he'll be fine. This is harder.
Got a weird phenomenon with 2 month old ned. Whenever I whistle, he will sort of gasp and jump a bit. He doesn't seem to be in distress or anything, but it happens every time. Any ideas on what that's about?
Our 2 year old has been coughing at night for about the last 4 months. We’re thinking it’s just bc of the pollen being super high in Tampa right now. The only thing is she’s coughing so bad she’s throwing up. Doctors just think it’s the sinus draining and not much we can do other than ride it out. Anyone had anything similar or suggestions? We’d just like one night of sleep.
Maybe. I didn't know that could be sound related, but it makes sense. He just started reacting that way this week.
The one post that could exist here or in the stupid wife thread, mean two different things, and would totally work either way. Also congrats and/or apologies!
My wife had this a few years ago before we even had our daughter and had to take acid reflux medication.
Was real fun spreading illness around the house all week long from something my 3.5 year old daughter caught Finally starting to feel well enough to venture outside again just in time for it to rain most of the weekend
Just spent the morning watching more Blippi with the 2 year old and I have a theory on how he got started. I believe he lost a bet in college. As a result he had to dress up silly, act like a kid, and his friends put it on YouTube. The aftermath resulted in a ton of views and the idea was born to make more videos. From there it just escalated and this guy fell into a career that he never thought would happen as he was just finishing up his accounting degree.
