Apparently the overnight construction on the 400/285 interchange ran long and it completely fucked up traffic bc they didn't open the lanes up soon enough
It should happen. Would be nice if the state weren't a bunch of fucking retards and they'd just help fund it.
Any recommendations for best airport bar to eat, drink, and watch the games until my flight late this afternoon?
depends on which concourse, but the best restaurant is One Flew South. https://atlanta.eater.com/2014/11/20/7254811/atlanta-airport-dining-hartsfield-jackson-international
We have a Bdubs in the center of D if you are looking for most/best TV set up and plenty of taps and full bar.
Just had a conversation with an eastern european immigrant at the pool rec center I go to now (didn't ask where he was from but he indicated it was the USSR). He is a citizen and didn't vote Tuesday but holy jesus is the boomer mindset something that all older white people have been indoctrinated in. We had a civil conversation about how MARTA should have already expanded up here in Gwinnett in the 70s and 80s, but it was voted down because it's all controlled county by county and that we have to bite the bullet at some point and expand. We somehow then got into conversation about work ethic and how he was able to go to college here and basically have no debt because he worked. I tried explaining how that's basically impossible with rising costs. He genuinely couldn't understand how much college costs now beyond tuition and that those who are disproportionately affected by lack of public transit options and are very poor have no savings in which to be able to venture out into furthering their education or being able to move to areas where there are better jobs or access to transit. We didn't talk much longer but I was trying to get into how zoning laws, especially in the South, have disproportionately affected black people in Atlanta who deal with poverty and a system constantly working against them. Very civil and I kept my cool, I said that the US is still a great country and that, yes, he did work hard to get where he is but growing wealth inequality is not a problem we can continue to ignore. It's just amazing how much old white people want to turn a blind eye to these issues that are staring them in the face. I mean I guess I was like that in high school and college, but it didn't take very long once I moved out the conservative fundamentalist bubble my parents created to see how unfair this country is.
I don't actually know if OFS has TV's and it's always packed. I like Grindhouse - I think that's in D.
Every 23 year old in Atlanta will be there today but New Realm has a nice TV set up upstairs. That’s really the only brewery I can think of with many TVs. Has anyone been to the redone Sweetwater yet?
Went there after dinner one night and the upstairs was super fucking annoying Too old for that shit. They also served me in shitty plastic cups. Mother fucker you're a brewery. Get fucking appropriate glassware
New Realm will be a shit show today with the weather + tournament. Having said that I've always gotten served at a reasonable pace even when it's slammed
Yup It's too bad their beers aren't as awesome as their space Kinda pisses me off that their are so successful with average beer
I went to arches brewing last night with some coworkers. Pretty small place, but they did have a nice outdoor area out back with big fire pits. No TVs though. Apparently the Kentucky mud milk stout was brewed by nappy roots. It was delicious.
Isn’t one of the founders of New Realm a former Stone brewer? Figured they would be better of that was the case.
Wild Leap is great. A few of the Alpha Abstractions (I think vol 4 in particular) have been a little sweet, but they’re killing it.
I'd say no bc you can just buy their beers here and you don't have to drive back drunk. I'd go to Athens over Lagrange and probably not much further
Hiking around FDR State Park isn't awful, and there are a few decent restaurants around town. I would not come down just for the brewery itself, but they throw some pretty cool events that you could probably make a trip out of.
Need to get back to creature comforts. It was nice when I had a buddy up there and would head up on Saturday and return Sunday.
