I can't remember where it was, I'm pretty sure a HS tournament, but Ben Askren (an out-of-shape, but still Ben Askren, Ben Askren) went live with Nolf. He didn't divulge too much, but I do remember him raving about how freaky strong Nolf was. He knew he was going to be strong, but he was still surprised. I think about that whenever I see him mauling guys. Just wondering what it feels like having a monster like that on top of you. I imagine it's similar to getting attacked by a medium-sized bear.
Zain's bow and arrow was amazing, Zain adapting it to freestyle in a timely fashion is even cooler. Just my barely sober
Yes please. Poll the wrestlers and I bet the vast majority are in favor of it. It's the old white dudes who want folk.
This. I can't the mat wrestling phase of folkstyle. Guys like Mark Hall just hang on people, and are great at it, without ever attempting to score. It's one thing to be a pinner like Bo, but so much of this rideout shit is gross.
Refs are still involved too much but there's so much more scoring that it doesn't mean as much. I've literally never seen 1 freestyle match as boring as the first 3 matches tonight.
The one thing I will say that's a checkmark in the PRO column for folkstyle, is that it translates more greatly to real fighting. Keeping a guy on the mat matters. It's why you see MMA dominated by former collegiate wrestlers, and only a handful of international wrestlers.
Joseph is great but didn't want him to be a 4xer, at best the 4th best Penn State wrestler this cycle.
Insecure much? PSU loses one match out of just under 45 and you start grasping at straws. I'm basically a bigger PSU fan than you, bro.
Great to see VT finally get one! I love watching PSU but it’s kind of cool to see a lot of different schools getting a champ tonight.
About the same as I went dry into your mom. Getting beat by 30 plus in a tournament team race is embarrassing
I definitely think it's the story of the tournament outside of PSU's continued dominance. Good for Rutgers and VT. Well deserved, tremendous coaching staffs, tremendous programs. Expecting more champs from both programs in the future.
Guessing he had injury or other issues, he's a beast. Not sure what compares to him being a 8 seed, believe J Jaggers was 30 seed or some shit 1 year and won it.
It's crazy, but I think Hall walks around heavier than Zahid. Everyone says Zahid barely cuts to make 174, and you have Hall talking about skipping meals.
This is the fucking rivalry college wrestling deserves. Whose decision was it to not make this the last match of the night? IDIOTS.
