My wife and I ended up not getting the English puppy I had posted back in March, and had pretty much decided we were going to wait a little while to add another dog to the family. Well, that didn't last very long. A friend of mine sent me some pics of some puppies that had been dropped off at our local shelter and we both fell in love with this guy. Picked him up last night This is Tyson
I’m so tempted. My wife has wanted a brown Aussie for a long time, but she won’t let me get a third. This one is gorgeous.
Babe, I knew you’d be upset about a third... so I got you this fourth as a “just because” gift to lift your spirits!
Update: When I wrote that we had already purchased an e-collar for her but I was reluctant to use it due to some prior bad experiences. She had been getting better, or so I thought, but the incident in the swamp was the last straw. Man oh man have these things come a long way since the old on/off days. Ours is a 3 step ‘beep-vibrate-buzz’ with an adjustable current. It only took three ten-minute sessions this last week and now she’s perfect on hikes. I haven’t even shocked her since the first training session, all it takes is a beep and she immediately heels. She hasn’t been tested by another dog or the like yet, but the initial results are very promising. If any of you have a runner I’d highly suggest trying it. Don’t worry about harming your dog—you can set the current so low that it’s more gentle than a vibrating phone.
we're going to have to put gus down on friday. I never really knew what this would be like, but it's way tougher than I could have imagined. Spoiler
Leaving tonight to go back to st louis and pick up my *little maliraptor back up. So excited. *judging from the pics the trainer sent he is not so little anymore.
It's crazy how fast they grow up. I like looking back at pictures of Tosu sitting in a chair with my mom and their cat, and how small he is; compared to a recent picture of him sitting in the chair with her.
Guy at the dog park told me he had just left the vet because his dog got ahold of and ate an entire bottle of CBD oil this morning Vet told him to keep an eye on him because he would probably be just acting really mellow and wanting to sleep That dog was the wildest one at the park
Such a massive change in behavior too. Well worth it. He is only 14 weeks now so obviously still has a puppy's add. But damn if he doesn't correct any bad behaviors quickly when you say so and listens to his commands. The trainer seemed very impressed with him and his progress. She did caution though that he would either be an amazing dog or a terror, and that would it all depend on us. Be consistent, keep doing what she told us to and she said he will amaze us.
He’s gotten so big. One mistake we’ve made is since our puppy classes is we laxed on practicing. He doesn’t listen nearly as well as he did during those 6-8 weeks of classes.
Yea the trainer thinks he will hit the top of standard as far as height goes. We definitely have to stay constant with continuing his lessons and work. We will probably send him to another session with this trainer when hes around 8 months or so.
I am also going to take a wild stab that more mainboarders have scratched Scout’s and Copper’s ears than any other mainboarder doggo. Copper is the 85lb old man of the house.
Its rained 2 inches in Eugene, Oregon today. The dog park was empty and flooded so Ruby took the opportunity to roll in the mud and run through the ponds.
