I guess it depends if she just wants to get shitfaced going from place to place or not. If she does, yeah go to one of those two. If she does not, I like the other places better.
I feel like the meddlesome moth would be a good place for most 21 year olds to celebrate a birthday if she didn't want to get too wild. Although I am old and boring, so take that with a grain of salt
I would start at Happiest Hour near Uptown simply for the view of Downtown while she is sober. Deep Elum would be where I would go later to go bar hopping.
If you are in Deep Ellum, might I recommend stopping by Louie Louie’s Piano Bar at some point. Great time, especially for birthdays
Not a bad idea - Happiest Hour was some wild shit before we played Florida in the NCAA tournament this past spring
heading to Dallas for business next week. will be in meetings pretty much all day, but will be scrounging for good breakfast and dinner spots.
Breakfast: Snooze, Goodfriend Package Dinner: Meddlesome Moth, Local Traveler, 20 Feet, H & G Supply, Pecan Lodge
Seriously, Pecan Lodge is overrated. Go to Lockhart’s for bbq If you’re looking for breweries, Celestial probably has the best beer, Deep Ellum or Community probably has the best atmosphere, Braindead probably has the best food
I agree Pecan is overrated but still puts it at better quality than Lockhart. Also, had Community changed their taproom in the last couple of years? Lakewood has the best taproom in Dallas proper imo.
Yeah, again...a bit of a drive. Trying to recommend stuff near downtown. Totally disagree about the bbq. Lockhart has only disappointed me once. Every other time it’s been fantastic
second meso maya and pecan lodge eatzis has bomb breakfast jakes or maple and motor for burgers sixty vines at the crescent is really good for dinner. ocean prime and shake shack are right there too stars might have a playoff game while you’re in town too
thanks for the food recommendations. i'll report back. i have a 1 pm flight on Wed afternoon. How long should I allow to get from downtown to the airport?
Yeah, definitely try it. Almost all NEIPAs. Guy that used to brew the in house beer at Malai broke off and started Celestial. Definitely one of the new hot breweries in town now
Coming to Dallas the first week of May. Staying at a hotel that looks like its in Grapeville. Got some evenings off while I'm there anything to do. Don't drink so bars are out.
Not sure of any destination restaurants out there as it is smack dab in the middle of family land-suburbia but you can probably find some good stuff.
lol Grapeville Assuming Grapevine, Mi Dia From Scratch is a great place for Mexican (not Tex Mex). Meat U Anywhere is one of the best BBQ places in the area but is somehow under the radar. Weinberger's Deli is more of a lunch place but is great as well. My office is 10 minutes away so if I wasn't going to be out of town on vacation that week I'd show some hospitality.
I am sure there will be some decent choices at the Southlake town center. Plenty of people watching there too generally.
Grapeville is actually a quite good name for that part of suburbia nowhere. Ima start using it regularly.
That's not Grapevine at all. 10-15 minutes away though. Is BSA Headquarters no longer in Irving? Meat U Anywhere has a second location in Trophy Club that's closer for you. Roanoke has a bunch of great restaurants. Bayou Jack's is a favorite of mine but you're probably not coming for cajun food. The other locations suck, but the original Babe's is still legit for fried chicken or chicken fried steak. Classic Cafe is really good also. Also a lot of decent options in Southlake
Looking for an airbnb over Labor Day weekend for the Auburn/Oregon game. Any specific areas you guys recommend and their positives/negatives(been looking uptown, downtown, and bishop arts so far) or areas you wouldn't recommend. Gonna be a bunch of guys in their mid 30's.
