I think the little girl (Felicity) in this episode is Paul & Becca's love child. I honestly have no clue who's wedding it is. The YTW subreddit has a handful of theories.
Their to-do list was great. Love the shock fence idea to keep kids out, mutual masturbation to old nudes, and to ask Gretchen's father if there is time for blessing.
This show has come such a long way these past few years. They obviously hit us with the hard stuff early on, but the acting stood out quite a bit last night from Gretchen and big time in the Jimmy/Edgar scene. High quality work all around
Catching up with the last three episodes and never knew Fun Home was adapted into a musical. Guess I need to find where to watch that now.
Man seeing those old pictures of Lindsey I forgot how much smaller she used to be. She used to be curvy, then, chunky, now she's just fat.
They got me. I called it was Linds and Paul's wedding. Thought the girl playing with Edgar was Paul/Becca's kid or Tallulah though. Well played fuckers.
That was amazing. That was such an amazing swerve. I went from to . Even as much as I'm going to miss such a well written and acted show I'm not even sad because that was the perfect finale.
I cried a good bit (Especially when Jimmy went off on Gretchen outside). But that montage was absolutely perfect.
When he started talking about how's it living in NY I was like yo wtf is going on they just stopped talking to each other the day lol
It's kind of funny that the one character that we were all told to "hate and fear" (Gretchen's mom) told the truth about how to handle Gretchen.
Eh her mom was a bitch though. Besides Gretchen problem wasn't Jimmy loving her it was feeling constraints of marriage which Jimmy also had issues with.
Jimmy also had an issue understanding Gretchens mental illness for the last five years. Don't get me wrong, I in no way like Gretchen's mother. But her position on happiness and being satisfied with life has royally fucked Gretchen up and you can't just fix that over night (Ex. The image of the baby crying and gretchen crying as well. That shows growth to me that someone with mental illness can still be a functional mom and wife-ish) Honestly that entire montage made me happy because everyone has grown up in someway.
I hear you but I don't feel Jimmy will ever understand her mental illness hell he told her she doesn't get to use it when they had their confrontation. I think Jimmy finally learned the most important thing to Gretchen is that you don't leave because that's what people always do to her including Jimmy. Jimmy still being there when she came outside instead of getting in the car with Edgar once she found out he was still there. It made her have to open instead of just defaulting to the I'm fuck up and you knew this already excuse. Jimmy solution of choosing each day to stay with her is basically all she's ever wanted. Edgar basically knew what they had to do in order to truly make it work and they finally did it and it gave him the strength to finally leave because he knew they would be alright. Edgar gets the credit imo for how to deal with Gretchen than her bitch mom who loves her but mistreated her and still does
I think we both agree on the terms of everything. But we’re looking at it from two different angles. Side note, I’m impressed that this series gave everyone room to grow in their own way. It was good to Becca not drinking while pregnant, Vernon actually working again, Linds/Paul actually spending time together instead of shitting on one another. Oh and the florist/nanny is hot.
Perfect finale for me. I'll admit to dreading the flash towards over the season and after last week thought Jimmy and Gretchen wouldn't stay together. I will equate that to my general cynicism, but was very glad to be wrong and I'll echo the statements about the final montage - it was an excellent way for a series to go out.
I knew I shouldn't watch this at work but I couldn't wait. Talk about sticking the landing. It will not be the last time I watch this show.
Damn shame this show will come and go and won't win any awards while shows that are basically a shell of themselves and are living on name alone do. Still can't believe how well they wrapped everything up, only thing I wish is that the real honey nut could have showed up.
I've been reading all the interviews and reviews. This one I liked a lot, these people really do love each other and they deserve all the Emmys. https://www.vulture.com/2019/04/youre-the-worst-finale-aya-cash-chris-geere-stephen-falk.html
Just binge watched the final season today. I didn’t want to watch it episode by episode over time. Glad I waited. Really well done season. Loved the ending. Always felt it would be happy, but had a different idea and this was perfect.
Ok so a few questions comments after processing it all... Didn’t Gretchen hook up with someone and stab someone the day/night she took everyone out for an interview? If so, the blow job seemed like it was even, and how the fuck did she get away with standing someone? I thought the use of the florist as the nanny was a bit of a cheap tool, but it’s forgiven. Not a big deal but also not nevpcessary What happened to the red car? Just randomly scratched up I guess.
I don't think the BJ was ever the problem if it was the florist wouldn't have been the nanny. Always felt it was because Jimmy tried to manipulate her to make himself feel guilt free.
I can't fully explain the red audio either. It could be the fact that they have kids now. So Jimmy's priorities are elsewhere (Remember how he used to keep his BMW). But I'm not fully sure.
Well, I don’t think the florist should have been the nanny. That was very contrived and used dishonestly for the plot, IMO. He met her a couple of times and she just happened to be around to be a nanny when they actually had a kid? Stupid, but it worked as a cheap trick.
Yes, I guess it is not their responsibility to explain everything, but they only used a very small amount of gimmicks to mislead us in the opening sequences and it feels weird to not have an explanation when they went out of their way to put that in our faces as a misdirect. Forgiven, because the outcome was pleasing.
Gretchen said because it happened and they both didn't really like it there wasn't sexual tension so it was perfect nanny. Sort of makes sense for them.
About to start episode 12. I am so bummed right now. Haven’t read any spoilers. Hopefully this gets better.
