Its not too bad except the cold. Bob Carmack has planes flying over stadium with signs putting Duggan on blast. This dude has huge balls. Lol
He was in studio at MLB Central (MLBN morning show) on Monday with Christin Stewart. I never realized how big Goodrum was until then. He made Stewart look tiny.
Yup. Even if we were to extend now and stretch things out to possible contention years, it seems like he has the size to improve power and maybe profile as a corner OF down the road ...
There's no reason to extend him. He's still playing for the minimum next year, and he's probably not making much in arb for at least a year or two after that. He's someone you let prove it before you commit, IMO.
I have no clue what Spencer Turnbull can be, but he's at least showing he's got a shot to be a late inning reliever the next few years with this kind of stuff.
True, I dont really know his contract situation. Though I'd say he's on his way to "proving it." Small sample but 6:5 bb/k is a nice sign of progression in his approach ...
I guess my point is I don't think he'll be in a situation where he's going to make enough money (at least in the next 2-3 years) to where we should feel the need to try to steal a year or two from him at the end or anything. I like what I'm seeing there, but he needs to prove he can be an every day guy before I'm going that route.
Plus he could be good trade fodder if he keeps it up. Just think he may have the goods in general ...
If he's pitching like this, he won't be there by the start of May. Not sure how quick they'll jump him, but they did say that part of the reason they sent him to Lakeland was the weather so you could be right there.
The Indians' window is closing, the Sox are unproven. I think the Twins will be aight but watch out for this team in 2-3 years
Minor leagues from tonight: Toledo - Castro 2-4 - Lugo 1-4 with a BB (he had 9 BB in 123 AAA games last year; he has 3 in 2 AAA games this year) Erie - Manning 5 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 5 K, 3 BB - Paredes 2-4, HR, 4 RBI - Hill 3-5, 3 R, 2 RBI West Michigan - Meadows 0-4, 3 K (1-8, 5 K so far this season) - Perez 0-4
Lakeland has a couple interesting relievers on that team. Jason Foley is the guy who went undrafted, suddenly started throwing 100 mph 6 months later and dominated a level or two before blowing out his elbow. If healthy and his stuff returns, he could race through the different levels. Tarik Skubal was a LHP they picked later on day 2 last year who has really good stuff but had TJ in college. He crushed the lower levels after signing last year as a reliever, and he's already in Lakeland. He started tonight and went 4 IP. Kind of surprised they pushed him to Lakeland if they're using him as a starter, but I could see them trying him in more of a tandem start-type role, with the idea that he'll eventually become a reliever. That's probably something they should have been doing with guys like Gregory Soto and Anthony Castro the last few years.
RHP named Carlos Guzman in West Michigan is a name that wasn't on many prospect lists before this winter, but I've seen multiple sites (TigsTown and Fangraphs, in particular) say he's really interesting. Former SS who flipped to pitching and has a really good change-up and a chance to really jump up if he figures out a breaking ball. Will be interesting to see how he does in full season ball this year.
Oh man. I was really looking forward to that shitty prospect we were going to get for him at the trade deadline.
I feel kind of bad disrespecting Zimmermann and Boyd like this, though. Those two are right up there with Moore as far as CY contenders to this point and have been around longer.
The best thing for the future of the team is for Norris to pan out. He will have a chance now if Moore is out for a couple weeks
I mean, I’m more likely to tune in on a random Wednesday night if Norris is pitching, instead of some washed up starting pitcher with no future on the team beyond this year.
You disrespected Moore all offseason, and before the injury he was clearly showing to be the top FA pitcher on the market from the winter.
We have allowed 3 HRs to the Royals today. We have hit 2 HRs in our first 8.5 games. Gonna be tough to keep up this 100 win pace if that continues.
I mean all he has to do is hit .200 and he’s basically Jacoby Jones or Mahtook. He’s never been healthy for a full year.
