Shooting a man while on his knees has some people upset on the internet Plus we both know nobody would have watched in the bad criminals thread
siap Former Kansas police officer expected in court for accidentally shooting suspect with gun instead of stun gun abcnews.go.com/US/kan...
Police hit Willie with an estimated 25 shots, including in his face, throat, chest, ear and arms. John Burris, the family’s lawyer, showed reporters graphic photos of Willie’s body at a news conference Friday, saying, “He was shot to pieces.”
One of the officers who fired at Willie had previously shot and killed an unarmed man and is the subject of an ongoing excessive force lawsuit. A second officer was previously sued in a police brutality case.
I mean god damn, the dude passed out in the drive thru. He's not a huge threat. He can't even stay awake while in line yet that are petrified. Here's the full video. At 4:30, he half way wakes up and scratches his arm. Words on the video say verbal commands were given but they just so happen to turn the sound off so we never hear that. He woke up from a dead sleep bv of the light being shined on him, sat up, and within a second they put 25 bullets in him. They could have handled that so many different ways but they just sat back and waited for him to make a move and then put 25 bullets in him for doing so. The first time I heard them yell at him was AFTER they put 25 bullets in him. They never banged on the glass. Never yelled at him. Nothing. Just sat back and waited for him to wake up and move. https://www.sfgate.com/local/article/willie-mccoy-body-camera-shooting-death-video-13726917.php
Sorry here's the actual full 30 minute video they released and they show it in real time with audio. At 14:55 he sits up. They yelled at him at 14:56. At 14:57 they started firing, literally 1 second after he woke up from a dead sleep. Do they really expect him to wake up from a dead sleep and follow commands like a circus animal in 1 second? That's so fucking unrealistic. Literally no person on the planet is going to wake up and be alert and follow instructions in 1 second. It's not possible. Deciding to kill a man bc he didn't do that is just disgusting behavior. Did they really think that was the best course of action? No other options? Not possible to stay back 50 feet and have one of the cruiser in front or back or the car shake it to wake him up? Can't bang on the glass? Can't just wait for him to wake up on his own? The only option is to murder him when he's startled from sleeping? Fuck every one of those cops. All of them should be charged with murder.
https://www.al.com/news/2019/04/judge-denies-immunity-for-huntsville-cop-charged-with-murder.html -suicidal man calls police -two LEOs (with 10 years experience combined) show up and are talking to him; one officer is deescalating the situation -another LEO (with 18 months experience) shows up, grabs his shotgun, gets frustrated with the officer talking to the man (for lowering her weapon and "not protecting herself or the other officer"), pushes past her and demands the man lower his gun -suicidal man doesn't lower his gun from his own head and instead shrugs his shoulders -LEO shoots and kills man as his shoulders move (according to shooter but not the other officers on scene) within 11 seconds of shooting officer entering the home -internal investigation determines the shooting officer did nothing wrong and sends the other two officers to do more training on officer safety Three months later, the DA brings the case before a grand jury and receives an indictment. Shooting officer requests immunity and the judge denied it which brings us to today and the specific article posted above. Thank God the District Attorney isn't worthless.
Pegues testified that she believed she was de-escalating the situation with Parker — until Darby pushed past her and Beckles to take over the situation. Darby testified that he took over because Pegues was “failing to control the situation” and not “protecting herself.” When Darby first walked up to the home, he shouted at Pegues to “Point your f---ing gun at him,” video footage revealed. Within about 20 seconds, Darby pushed past Beckles and Pegues — both officers with more experience than Darby — and entered the front room of the home. Darby himself told Parker multiple times to drop the gun and within 11 seconds of entering the home, Darby shot him in the face.
About two months after the shooting, Darby was cleared of wrongdoing by an internal police review board. Beckles and Pegues were sent for re-training on officer safety, according to testimony. At the time of the shooting, Beckles and Pegues had about 10 years of combined police experience, compared to Darby’s 18 months on the job. This is the problem, right here.
Hate to tell you, but the guy was correct. Every police training scenario tells you to shoot the guy in that situation. Suicidal = homicidal. Him dropping the gun to level and popping off rounds is a no go. They didn't mention cover or if anyone else was around. The worst thing, according to training, you can do as a Leo is drop your gun. HTH Edit: holy shit this clown partner let the female cop inside alone with an armed suicidal man. Wow. And she lowered her weapon. Double wow. Fire those two dumb shits
If a cop trying to de-escalate the situation is against protocol, the protocol needs to be changed. If that's my family member, I want a cop that will try to stop him from killing himself, not take over and kill him. Why would I even call the cops if all they are going to do is kill him?
If they are holding a gun to their head, you shoot them. Action beats reaction. He levels the gun and gets a shot off before an officer reacts. Even with a gun in hand. Two other things really stood out here that made me believe the young guy was correct, they mentioned he parked away from the scene- which is taught on gun runs, and old heads dont follow, and he took control of the scene, which is taught. I cant stress enough how big of a red flag it is that the one guy left a single officer inside with an armed, suicidal man. And that officer inside actually tried to put their gun down. Or that the old heads tried to say they didnt see movement. This isnt the wild west, you dont wait for him to make a move in that situation. Here is the question I was told to ask myself everytime I go on a suicide attempt run, which is once a week on avg, why did the suicidal person call the police? If they want help, why didnt they call the fire department or a mental health facility. Why did they specifically call an armed segment of the population with minimal mental health training. - that is the answer to why you drop the suicidal person in that situation If my loved one is that cop, I dont want to see training changed. Especially in the day of suicide by cop
Ask the other cops on here if anything I said is incorrect. I will educate you all day on the topic big boy
Again, if that's the training, the training should be changed. The man was sitting on his own couch. No reason to bust into his house and kill him before he can kill himself.
why did he call the cops? Are cops not supposed to respond to runs? They just randomly kicking in doors looking for suicide attempts? i get this is your act, but many people are ignorant to the training so I'm using this to educate
It's a tale as old as time. "This police officer did nothing wrong.....anyway, here's your 8.25 million dollars." If the taxpayers have to keep picking up the tab, we should at least be able to hold these assholes accountable. Dude is probably still working two counties over.
you would think a flat immunity for criminal charges would apply to any civil action, but obviously that is not always the case.
Seems like an overreach by the court system more so than police but certainly gross and scary as fuck in 2019.
Is it a Mississippi thing or do all police departments have deer skinning racks outside their department.
Chicago FOP is consistently on some shit. I know a bunch of black Chicago cops who fucking hate the union.
I assume it’s led by a bunch of old white guys while a sizable proportion of the officers they represent are anything but old and white? Larry Krasner talks about having the same problem in Philly
Yep. CPD is 51% non-white and 70% male; FOP leadership is something like 80% white and 99% men. A few years ago they stopped putting their leadership’s pictures on the website because it’s so white and male. According to my brother-in-law (a CPD Officer for 20+ years) they’ve done a better job getting Hispanic officers (19% of CPD) to join FOP committees than black officers (29%). In large part because black officers are ashamed to tell their family/friends they are involved in FOP. So imagine being fine telling your friends and family you’re an officer in as fucked up a police department as CPD....but participating in FOP is where you draw the line. Smh. FOP is a trash organization. EDIT: CHICAGO FOP is trash. I l don’t know much about all the other FOP lodges out there.
