Currently doing a rewatch. Am at the red wedding. I think this might be the only episode I haven’t seen more than once. Just absolutely brutal. I’ll never forget my reaction to it in the books.
It's crazy to think how drastically Edmure Tully changed the course of history when he attacked that Stone Mill. What a tool. Motherfucker betrayed Julius Caesar in "Rome" too.
Tyrion: I won’t share your bed. Not until you want me to Sansa: What if I never want you to? Tyrion: *lifts glass* And now my watch begins...
Obviously it happening in a matter of moments on tv is shocking but you are kind of subjected to it as a viewer and with the pace of it, you can’t really comprehend what’s happened until it’s over. I’m assuming as you are reading it where it unfolds more slowly due to reading pace you are comprehending what’s happening before it can actually happen. What was the feeling like? That’s the one scene I regret not reading the books first for.
I was on an airplane, in an aisle seat(my brothers to the left), and I threw my book at the window of the plane and refused to touch the rest of the flight
I threw my book, but not during the Red Wedding. I kept reading in a fury until Arya took an ax to the face, and thinking she was dead as well I wound up and threw the book at the wall as hard as I could.
Yeah it's up there, for sure. My top five looks like this: 2x09 - Blackwater 6x10 - The Winds of Winter 4x09 - The Watchers on the Wall 5x08 - Hardhome 6x09 - Battle of the Bastards And I disagree with the premise of that post entirely. There's not a single episode to skip on Game of Thrones. It's like telling someone to skip a dozen chapters in a sixty-chapter book. Just watch the show. If you're not caught up by the time the season begins who cares. Keep watching. At least you won't have to wait a week in between each one.
We’re not going to finish our rewatch prior to Sunday, not even close. My plan is to just continue rewatching at our current pace, watch the new episodes as they air, and then rewatch the new episodes again whenever we get to Season 8 in our rewatch
I dunno why, but when Tywin disses the sword as he talks to Jaime about it, I get angry at the casual disrespect.
Don’t be. He’s just jealous his family doesn’t own an ancestral Valerian sword, they had to buy one. Then they lost it
My reaction was quite the opposite from everyone else. I was reading it on my iPad so throwing it was not an option but I stopped reading after. It took me two days to pick it back up. Like others have said the axe to the head...
This was me. I read the Red Wedding chapter and then the Arya chapter that followed it. After that I put the book down and didn't pick it up again for a month.
Just finished my rewatch, I don’t think I’ve watched season 7 since it came out. Thank god the masters starts tomorrow or I don’t know what I would do to hold me over until Sunday night
Arya standing in the bow of the ship, accompanied by the perfect music for the moment, is one of my Top 10 scenes in the series. I don’t think it could have been filmed any better.
Doing a rewatch now and I’d forgotten (1) how annoying and smug the Sand Snakes are, and (2) some of the dialogue in seasons five and six. Tyrion’s dick (or lack thereof) jokes to Varys in Meeran are awful and when the snake says to Bronn “you want a good girl, but you need this bad pussy” I cringed.
It's kinda sad because it was a defining moment of the series. They pretty much admitted "were just shooting at the hip atm because we need a lot of time to figure how the fuck were going to finish this series" The scene where Jamie and Bronn just waltz into a palace like it was nothing was just woof.
Episode 7 is so good. The scene with Littlefinger coaching the whores following into talking about his love for Lady Stark and quickly followed up by Theon about to rape the wildling girl
S1E7 is one of the best in the series. Tywins first scene, all the maneuvering in kings landing for the throne post Robert ending up with Ned getting fucked.
I had been doing a rewatch and was just going to continue the rewatch until I caught up and rewatch season 8 again... but now I’ve stopped.
