Great article on their current struggle too: https://www.forbes.com/sites/insert...rds-current-problems-even-worse/#127d72dd3b4d I don't know how anyone can watch Dota 2 over LoL though. Obviously it depends on which you've played, but as someone who got into playing neither I can get into watching league games easy while Dota is just a huge mess where nothing seems to matter. I haven't found it spectator friendly, or possibly just requires too much knowledge to watch.
I can’t watch league because it’s literally more boring in pace than any MOBA ever made. Dota 2 may require a little bit of knowledge but the casting is far superior in big matches and tactically superior in depth of gameplay and meta. I get your point but they do have noob friendly streams during the international.
OW is basically a weird blend of MOBA/FPS. The game would be unplayable without ults due to healers being so powerful. Nothing would ever die. Could nerf ults if healing gets an equally significant nerf though.
WoW is not for everyone. in old days it was a huge time sink, but you also got a huge adventure at your own pace and the progession and your choices mattered. So a lot of people loved it but for a lot of people it was a too big moutain to climb which makes total sense. Today its just a total mess. dumbed down and just a front for micro transaction in a lot of peoples minds. The games biggest fans has slowly done a complete 180 over the last 5-6 years and now completely hates it with imo good reason. choices dont matter and the progression is none rewarding and the progression curve completely fucked. Diablo 3 was very up and down and Blizzard bailed on it when it actually was almost saved. The mobile screw up is one for the ages and just shows that Activision and blizzard has one thing in mind and only one thing - Money. If they make 4 and its good that will be forgotten, but i highly doubt they can. I dont think Blizzard will be considered anything of note in 5 years. They’ll still do okay because theres plenty of people out there that spends money on micro transactions and they’ll probably have an okay to good game in one of their IPs every couple of years, but the shift in philosophy is so big that actual gamers wont see much value in Blizzard games.
You're way underselling the amount of loyalty fans have to Blizzard and their IPs. It will take another 10 years of decline for them to be nothing of note. And all it takes is for them to release a couple of decent games under those IPs to remain near the top of gaming. The layoffs aren't of game developers, so it's too soon to count them out.
I’m not counting them out at all. but look how much all their IPs are bleeding. they are heading in a different direction and they need a new player base with totally other needs and gaming habits. They’ll get that surely. And yes they could go back and make average to good installments of their IP and theyd get a lot of old fans playing those games again, but i doubt they will enough to keep their old player base lets say 5 years from now. Thats what id want from them because they made great games but i just dont think they will. EDIT: and by nothing to note i meant more in the terms of their status as a great game company. They’ll surely make a lot of money.
I’m interested in seeing what their next PC IP is because that’s the lifeblood of their company. Another WoW expansion doesnt count.
Well theyre just remastering old games. Warcraft 3. releasing wow classic. and building more bullshit into the games they already have. Heartstone, Overwatch etc.
oh it is. They fucked up WoW so badly that they legit tried to bring in the fans from 10 years ago with the exact same game they used to play. It’ll help sure but for how long.
Yeah I already scratched that itch on Nostalrius. I’m sure itll be cool but I don’t have the time I did when I was 18-20 and o can’t play without being somewhat competitive. I’ll stick with autochess on Dota 2 or CSGO for now though I’ll probably play the division 2 some as well because the story is pretty good and they actually listen to their playerbase making changes accordingly.
as a dirty casual at this stage of my life I loved HotS, just unfortunate it never totally got its footing, even after the 2.0 revamp
not this time around. I'm going to see what the Spring Sale brings and probably pull the trigger on some stuff at that point
Ended up getting a 1070 gfx card for my upgrade. Should be in my next week. Pumped to go from a 750Ti to this. 4x more powerful
PoE new league starting in half an hour. Girlfriend called me home to take care of her sick self, got her sorted and the game patched up. Haven't participated in a league launch before, ready to take advantage of a shallow market.
It’s awesome. I’ve done 3ish league starts in the past year and a half and it’s just an absolute blast. I’ll have a starter build to make some currency, then an expensive build with the currency made that is usually for clearing endgame content, then usually play an SSF build late in the league that’s something I don’t normally play. The learning curve is so steep you have to almost play every genre of build just to understand item value and affixes. It’s the game Diablo should have been had they maintained any semblance of respect for themselves and their customers. I’m taking a break from it this league for division 2. Will definitely watch some streamers though.
This part is still where I'm struggling. I realized after posting in here that I need to do some research so that I don't just skip past things I can sell for 1c+ early on because I'm used to the middle/end of league lifespan when the majority of the player base already have their builds nearly done and just refining. That and only knowing one or two genres of build, not knowing what people are hyped on, etc.
Yeah the meta is usually determined pretty quickly after patch notes. For the longest it’s been Arc mines or traps so anything with lightning damage and pen had a lot of value. If you have stash tabs the best thing to do is just dump anything you think might be valuable in a quad tab for 1c the first few days. Anything that gets you a ton of messages is probably worth more. Say it was a mistake and repost it once you accurately determine its worth. It saves a ton of time because in reality you want to level and not waste time pricing things that don’t have a ton of value. I’m assuming you’re using poetrademacro and path of building etc.
I actually found a post earlier today highlighting a lot of scripts/tools to run along with the client to streamline. I am downloading the trademacro now, I've been referring to poe.trade often but doing it with a macro seems a lot easier.
Oh path of building, 100% been using that. That passive tree is so daunting otherwise and I love the snapshots of different point levels.
Really hate seagate hard drives right now, would recommend everyone spend the small difference to get WD. Their NAS drives end up making chirping noises that drive me insane.
I've got a WD in my 2-bay NAS at the moment, and was planning to get a Seagate for the other bay as I've heard having drives from different manufacturers lowers the risk of them potentially failing at the same time by a lot.
Yeah, you do lose the warranty, but you can't beat the price when they go on sale though. Usually around $130. https://slickdeals.net/f/12945565-8...ee-shipping?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1
Agreed, if it doesn't really make a difference having the same manufactured drive in your NAS, I may just pull the trigger and shuck a WD drive instead of wasting money on a Seagate.
I had 3 WD drives ranging from 3-4 TB fail all around the same time within 2-3 months last year. Purchased and used them since around 2014
Nvidia Delivers Ray Tracing Driver for Previous-Gen Pascal Cards, New Demos Ray tracing support officially expands to Nvidia’s previous-generation Pascal (10-series) cards today, as well as the GTX 1660 and 1660 Ti). The new driver should be available at GeForce.com (or from GeForce Experience) by the time you read this. And the company wants to make sure owners of those cards (as well as RTX owners) have some new ways to play with this much-hyped feature, with new ray tracing-focused demos arriving as well. Aside from the existing Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus, and Battlefield V titles that make use of ray tracing in various ways, there are now three additional demos available to the general public: Justiceand the often-shown Star Wars Reflections demo will be available on GeForce.com, and Atomic Heart will be available from the publisher. So if you have a Pascal card—from a “lowly” 1060 to the previous-gen 1080 Ti flagship— and you’re curious about what it can do, you have some downloading and testing to do. We’ll certainly be doing the same over the coming days. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-ray_tracing-pascal-10_series-driver,39043.html
whats the best pre-built website right now? i know cyberpower and NZXT or whatever are out there but no idea what one is considered best and most value not building my own, done it enough in my life
The 10-year decline has already happened. A lot of that loyalty they had has been severely strained or undone altogether. Their games have been mediocre for the past 10 years solid. They sold units this decade based on their prior reputation. They have shifted design philosophy completely to casino-style psychological tactics and in-game monetization strategies. Their games are horseshit now and the end will come soon. Their Overwatch League is a sham. Could go on forever but this topic has been beaten to death recently.
Pulled the trigger on a 1660 ti today...processor is next, then bumping to 16GB but needed to get out of the old GPU. Can finally play the division 2 on settings past smudge.
Playing Pyre, about 50% through I would say, its fantastic. Really unique gameplay system, gorgeous graphics, its really fantastic. Between this and Bastion, SuperGiant has become a Top 3 studio for me. I own Transistor as well, and I'm about to buy Hades in Early Access on Epic store, only $10. Love their stuff.
before i happy cry can someone confirm to me that this is not another attempt at putting aoe2 on a console (there is a lot of xbox stuff on that trailer)
Unless there’s a way to play on Mac, I’m gonna be an asshole who gets a cheap laptop just to play this game
I love this computer but all I do is play EUIV, Stardew Valley and Football Manager on it. I need to play something to actually stretch it out a bit. Any thoughts?
