Yeah we seem to be walking a lot. I figured our OBP had to be up there. Lots of guys for us are being patient and drawing walks. Exciting given the power our 1-5 guys have. Also this is a good article from Bowman today. Snit basically saying he wanted to see Ozzie's improvements from the left side before moving him to the top. Whatever https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/ozzie-...aves-vs-degrom.html?__twitter_impression=true
I’d like to see GOAT start 75% of his games in LF and let Ender come in during leads in the 8th/9th after GOAT’s third or fourth AB for defense.
With Camargo in the line up, Flow stroking it and BMac being OK when he's back healthy, out 1-8 is sooo much better than where we left off last year. We don't have gross massive holes (tired Kakes, Ozzie, Dansby, Ender) like we did to end 18.
Diamondbacks pitching staff (not including Greinke and Kelly who we don't have to face) looks pretty shoddy outside of Robbie Ray and Greg Holland so far. And even Robbie Ray has been pulling a Newk so far this year and pitching too deep into counts to finish a 6th inning. And we get Fried and Touki starts. Should be a fun series.
We did. The umpire behind HP also called a great game unlike Bellino Thurs. Bellino made the game about him and penalized our hitters time and time again for displaying great patience. I'm still salty af about that game. He completely altered that game with his ridiculous strike zone. Having plate discipline, drawing walks and working counts is part of our strategy. He took the bat out of players hands time and time again calling strikes on balls that were virtually unhittable. Fuck him.
In other news, Kevin Maitan has 4 hits in 32 ABs so far this season in the minors. Despite small sample size, this irrationally gives me a sense of relief. It’s weird because I’m not rooting for the kid to fail at all, but know it would sting a lot more if he all of the sudden was the top ranked prospect in the minors.
Career: Player 1 - .287/.336/.388/.724. 3 straight gold gloves, 1 time all star, Top 10 in steals NL last 2 seasons. Player 2 - .278/.343/.453/.796 more power numbers than player 1, no steals contribution, strikes out significantly more than player 1 in significantly less ABs I think we all know who these players are. Ender should not be leading off right now, but it’s hilarious how beloved player 2 is to the point that people here want to remove a gold glove caliber defender in a premium position and shift our best hitter over to a more demanding defensive position to open the door for player 2 to get more ABs. If anything, Inciarte is ok batting 8th until he picks things up, Camargo is a fine bench player and Culberson may warrant more ABs.
You are the baseball savant that suggested batting Ronnie lead off and shifting the entire lineup around for a .200 hitter that has barely played the OF. I’m just trying to help you avoid looking like an ass.
[don't respond to the guy using 4 year old stat lines and absurdly small sample sizes whilst capping for a guy OPSing 550]
Ok, this year’s sample size says “GOAT” is batting .200, striking out 36% of the time, and not our best option defensively in the outfield so... you’re still dumb. Stick to figuring out how to order an Uber at games and work up to managing/GM work
What the hell guys? Goat has proven to be the better hitter overall. Ender is without a doubt a better fielder. It's ok to want different things in our lineup. Chill the hell out
Just a PSA for the thread, you calculate K-rate by dividing strikeouts by plate appearances, not at-bats
Just noticed that Machado has been playing att 3b this year. Wasn't part of his demands that he got to play SS? Maybe that was overblown
I think he was cool with it because it meant he was playing with Tatis Jr on the left side of the infield.
How big of an idiot would you have to be to want Ronnie batting lead off 1-10? Figured i’d ask an idiot himself.
Come Saturday night... Is Touki in the Bull Pen? Seems like he's gonna be the guy vs Fried. Expect both of them to dominate AZ. I want Soroka in the pen too come mid May. Give him a "light" year in the majors inning wise
Ender had 0 DRS so far and his other advanced defensive metrics are shit and way down from his normal levels. SSS tho, especially for UZR
I think they'll leave Touki stretched out until the rotation sorts itself out. We've already demoted 50% of the opening day starters and Folty is still making rehab starts. Thank God for Gausman, Fried and ......ACE!
