They arent going to activate him off the DL until Saturday. He wouldn't be activated and be unavailable to pitch for the next 5 days
Yeah we’ll bring a reliever up until we activate Folty before his start. No need for him to take a roster spot if he’s not going to pitch until Saturday
Who on our 40 man are we going to bring up? We are coming off an open day and already have 8 guys in the pen. I bet we activate him and let him get into a routine. If in a few days they need an extra arm in the pen they can always option Webb down then.
I don’t see Clouse getting called up right now because he’s struggled to start the year in AAA and he’s not even on the 40 man roster yet
Easiest move would to bring Carle back. Could also move O’Day to the 60-Day IL (no idea what his timeline is) and add someone to the 40-man like Clouse.
This will 100% not happen. He was in the dugout last night. he's essentially with the team already and he'll be back after his start, just not activated yet
beginning to think no. Seems like the likely scenario. Dude hasn't even picked up a ball and no one knows his return. He's at best a month out if he started from scratch today. So put him on 60 day, back date it to the start of the season and he can come off the end of May, which is only 2 weeks after his "at best" time table
I feel like I shouldn't trust that stuhly math, but I don't really feel like thinking about it either.
FYI Mets vs Phils game is on ESPN tonight. Kapler just called for a double steal with two outs and runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the first. Realmuto was batting. Hoskins thrown out stealing to end the threat. Idiot. Mets up 3-0 and facing Nola tonight. Mets are gonna be a sack of hell this year to deal with if they stay healthy. I was pretty impressed with their lineup. Their pitching actually isn't as daunting right now as it looked when the season started. Tied 5-5. Thor having a rough start to the season.
Travis Demeritte is tearing the cover off the ball in Gwinnett. I really hope he puts a good year together. Could be a nice replacement for Chuck as the supersub with a little pop from the right if he ever moves on.
The more encouraging thing is that he's cut his strikeout rate in half from his traditional 30+% rates. He looks like he's changed his swing plane because he's hitting a lot more line drives and grounders than fly balls he's hit in the past and he's hitting to all fields so far instead of being dead pull. Small sample but encouraging changes.
Hope it’s real this time. This dude has one of these tears every year followed by crippling depression.
Yeah with GOAT being our starting LFer, we should be able tonuse him as the super sub between 2B and 3B. Have him play left when GOAT gives Bae a breather. Ender can pinch run for BMac or a pitcher, late inning defensive replacement
remember when the talk after kakes signed was "he knows he needs to sit more" and I believe he even admitted that he was tired at the end of the season. Guess which 35 yo OF has started every game this season so far
Yup. Snit doesn’t learn well. He’s gonna run Kakes into the ground again and we’re gonna have second half Kakes to deal with.
I would be ok platooning kakes/goat. Goat is batting .273 vs lefties this season after batting .270 vs them last year
I wouldn’t platoon him. I’d definitely give him a day every 7-10 days depending on the schedule. Think it makes us a better team by keeping guys sharp and him rested.
I'm sure he was batting similar last season at this point as well and then tanked in the 2nd half with a .258 avg and .701 OPS. We need him in the 2nd half/postseason stretch
yeah so far he played the first 8 games and then got a day off maintain something in the vicinity of that scheduling and you're looking at 145ish games played which seems pretty good
I think you are thinking this would be a 50-50 platoon here. 78% of the starting pitchers in MLB are Right handed, as Louis Holth said Kakes would only be getting a day off every week or 10 days or so on average
