Just got out of Shazam. Fun flick, I think it’ll be the DCEU’s version of Ant-man. The character that stole show for me was Darla, she was adorable.
Eh, as an alternate universe story, I'm fine with it. I was okay with it in Batman 89 and I'll be fine with it here.
Will Smith basaiclly plays Will Smith in every role. The Will Smith in SS was the Will Smith in I, Robot, Wild Wild West, and Men in Black.
Saw Shazam tonight; pretty entertaining. Board room scene was a little too Dogma-ish for my 6 year old, who’s been stoked about the movie for weeks. It was a good tone for an origin movie but didn’t blow me away by any means. I’ve always liked Shazam but he wasn’t part of my lexicon growing up so the source material for this one is a little foreign to me. A few plot questions: Spoiler is the multiple Shazams an actual thing? I had no understanding of the caterpillar at the end. I feel like the original wizard didn’t die in the comics And that was definitely not Henry Cavill at the end. Didn’t nearly fill out the suit enough and I think he’s still in contract talks...?
Agreed. It was noticeable too - I thought the 2nd half really dragged there for a bit. If they'd trimmed that 10-15 mins, it could have been a lot tighter. Yeah, Aquaman was definitely stronger - much better set pieces in it. I enjoyed Shazam! but felt it was a little soft and lacked some substance - some great ideas but they were milked a little much. The first Ant-Man comparison is a good one.
Shazam family is comics So is the Caterpillar; it'll be the next villain up with Black Adam after that I guess Sont remember about the original wizard
Entertaining movie and the tone was well executed. But yeah, a good 10-15 min too long. Mark Strong great as always, and Mary was very nice on the eyes.
Had a 4 hour flight yesterday so watched a little of Wonder Woman again. That scene where she comes out of the trenches through no mans land is just incredible.
The same company that gave a standing ovation after they watched an early preview of Batman v Superman
I only ask about the OG Shazam because Shazam’s interactions with the big DC names is really my best knowledge of him, and I know there’s a story arc where Supes learns who Shazam is, talks to him as Billy, then finds the wizard and gives him a stern Superman talking-down-to for putting such responsibilities on a kid. Spoiler this version is a joke. In the actual comic, Super shows him his “suit” under his suit.
Hands down my favorite movie DC has put out so far. My lady friend even said it was worth going to over a Dumbo showing.
Saw Shazam yesterday. I liked it but agree with what seems to be a consensus it was too long. Thought they could have easily cut out some of that. I like Mark Strong a lot as an actor, but that character kind of felt like it was from a different movie. I liked everything about the foster family and that entire story. Darla stole the show.
also Adam Brody playing the superhero nerd cripple’s Shazam guy gave me some great Seth Cohen callbacks
It's funny because he and DJ Cotrona (the green Shazam) were supposed to be cast in George Miller's Justice League in 2007 as Flash and Superman.
also of course Annie turned into Meagan Good I needed more of the asian kid though, dude is good in Fresh Off the Boat, and Ross Butler
I thought Cena was decent in the Bumblebee movie. At the very least, I didn't think he hurt the movie. Characters not hurting the Suicide Squad movie would be a massive improvement over the first.
Well shit if true about streaming service https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/d...rse-streaming-service-seems-uncertain-a167845
I was thinking Gunn will do for Cena what he did for Bautista Cena was funny in that Amy Schumer movie and I trust Gunn
He was pretty hilarious in that cock blockers movie too. Him running around in cargo shorts and a fanny pack as an overprotective dad was pretty great.
He was good in cock blockers as well. I think he'll do fine in a role that fits his talent and acting range.
