McPhearson seemed solid enough in his limited playing time. Likely would've been our 4th corner at best this year though.
If being a husker fan hasn’t taught me anything it’s that you should never be happy to see any player who has completed a football move leave the program. Source: Andrew Bunch started games last year.
Stevens didn’t exactly have a ton of game experience either. I’d rather roll the dice on the guy with 3 years left.
1/3 of the competition. Stevens Clifford Levis We’re all mentioned as in the running. Stevens has been hurt for the better part of 18 months. His limited playing time last year resulted in the worst throw I’ve seen by a QB at PSU since Anthony Morelli. At the time of entering the portal he still hadn't been medically cleared. He may end up being a good QB or he may end up being shit. But he hasn’t been able to earn the job and wanted it handed to him. Staff wasn’t having it and he’s leaving. Clifford has looked really good when he’s played in garbage time and he was really good at the spring game. PSU floor for wins this year is 8. Losing Stevens doesn’t change that
Clifford was always the one the staff wanted. Players love both guys so it will be interesting to see how the locker room reacts
We’re a victim of our own success. 1. Dwayne Haskins became a first round pick. Joe Burrow transferred because he thought he would be sitting behind Haskins for two years. Instead, it was one. 2. Would you rather have Justin Fields at QB, or instead have Tate Martell or Matt Baldwin? 3. We just can’t afford an injury in 2019 to Fields. Top-100 QB Jack Miller joins for 2020. We aren’t hurting for QBs in 2021 by any means. 4. Everything is always awesome at Ohio State.
All of the backups transferred except this grad transfer from WVU https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/roster/chris-chugunov/ Translation: we’re going 7-5 after Fields gets Braxton’d
Because we have Joe Bauserman as our backup right now and we run a lot of QB runs. If Fields gets hurt, we are dead.
Except that one time when OSU lost a 5 star qb and went on to win the natty. We don't have anything near that depth this year.
Hated to see this guy leave, but the NCAA is in the wrong on this one. https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...ents-on-the-brock-hoffman-denied-ncaa-waiver/
it was some prime bullshit from the NCAA. QBs crying their way onto other teams get rubber stamped but kid moving home to take care of mom recovering from a fucking brain tumor "sorry, you're 5 miles out of the zone". public pressure essentially forced the NCAA to yield and they told him to file another appeal under a different "rule" (I think CC's coach left?) and it seems likely he'll get approval. still though, fuck the NCAA so hard.
