This bullpen just isn't going to right itself, it's not fucking happening. Sobotka and Biddle need to be in AAA tomorrow, and whoever the next two arms that suck the least from the farm need to shift up. Keep trying until you find a few that are halfway not shit.
Biddle and Sobotka have good stuff and are MLB calibre pitchers, but clearly need to be working out the kinks in AAA. Snits hands are pretty tied right now. Jackson, Winkler, Minter and Parsons are pitching "ok" but even they all look shaky at times.
Want to hear a fun stat...here are our rankings in runs allowed per inning (before tonight) First 6 innings: 13th Last 3 innings: 27th 9th innings: 27th
Lol what a dumpster fire. Is AA really this fucking pathetic? I love being reasonably competitive but stopping just short of being good due to our lack of addressing the most glaring hole on the team. Adding pieces in the bullpen also would have been the cheapest part to fix too.
I mean it really would be difficult to get a trade going at this point in the season because most GMs are willing to wait until teams get more desperate.
And you probably don’t want to throw the white flag and expect fans to still come watch the team, unless you’ve got some killer prospects you want to make a spot for.
I meant that wow what a surprise it's April and we can't get a trade done. We only had the entire off season to figure things out. It's unforgivable. You cannot defend the failure by the FO in that they did absolutely nothing to improve our greatest weakness.
I'm not defending their inability to do anything all offseason, but I also realize we're likely not going to see a trade for bullpen help any time soon so the only thing we can hope is that some of these guys get their shit somewhat straight before June.
Sounds great. Yes, let's keep putting our eggs in the Biddle, Sobotka, Venters etc basket. If we had a decent bullpen we're in first place no questions. We're on our way to pissing the season away because we keep trotting out dogshit in tight situations. Snit is an idiot and keeps putting them in these spots. Idk what's wrong with these guys. All three were pretty solid for us last year. I know bullpen guys are volatile but at a certain point you gotta stop doing the same thing over and over. It has to be killing the team's spirit. We're averaging 5.5 runs a game (6th in MLB ) and we're 11-11. That should not be the case.
I'm not saying keep running those guys out there either. I'm just saying there's not going to be a trade market for improvements for a couple months. I wish they'd take a look at some of the free agents and sign them to minor league deals to see what they've got, go ahead and sign Kimbrel, or even start testing some of the youth in the bullpen on a rotating basis. But those are the most likely avenues to improvement outside of just plugging away and hoping they figure it out for the next 2 months until the trade market actually heats up.
Then I hope we dangle Allard and some other mediocre starting pitching prospect like Ynao to plunder some bad team's good bullpen for reinforcements like Cincinnati.
I love AA for sticking to his guns on the draft pick. So what if it's considered a down draft... He's a man or principal.
Some of y’all obviously missed this the other day. Smart move by Zaidi with so many teams already showing not just bad but terrible bullpens. Teams are desperate to stay in the race right now, if the Giants wait too long to make them available their may be less teams actually still in contention. Not saying we should do it, but relievers are available in SF.
Also, before the year, there was belief that or middle relief would be fine and we needed a closer. I mean viz, minter, Biddle, sobotka and wink were all pretty good last year. Bad luck that they all suck now.
Pick 4 relievers and their pitching and bullpen coach for whoever they want, Julio, and Rick Kranitz *force trade*
There’s been zero updates that I’ve seen on him. It’s like he’s completely disappeared from the organization after ST
Jim Bowden has the Braves as the most likely landing spot for Marcus Stroman if/when he gets moved before the deadline.
I wish JD would fight off some of these close pitches rather than taking them and hoping/expecting the ump doesn’t give the pitcher a call.
