Raw talent is amazing but he’s a bit corny sometimes as well and his fake beefing with lesser talents bothers me
I don't know anything about the fake beefs. I just know he's an old soul type of story teller that isn't as common in rap anymore. That's what I dig. Like I'm Sorry or Just Like You or Ross Cappicchioni. Like, damn.
Yeah when he focuses in he kills it, he just takes these digs at guys like Tekashi and Logic and guys that shouldn’t be on his radar because he should focus on separating himself from that crowd altogether. His skill set is on a Cole and Kendrick level and I feel like he should carry himself more like them.
I'm just stopping in to say JID is fucking incredible. I cant stop listening to any and everything he's done
While we’re on the topic of hip hop storytelling let me just drop one of the greatest stories in rap history
Hard to explain. I like the vibe but I don’t think one song jumps out for me sonically speaking. Been listening at work tho but I’ll take a couple pulls tonight and really listen
The video from Jay Z's performance at Webster Hall is pretty awesome. He brought out Nas and Camron. https://www.nme.com/news/music/watc...te-to-nipsey-hussle-at-b-sides-2-show-2481587
This is long. But it’s a phenomenal interview. Similar to his Bomani Jones interview. He talks about music nowadays, his daughter (she plays club soccer) and life ingeneral. I love this dude fam.
Took the dive into ScHoolboy's entire discography Used to listen to a few of his big songs during my college years without knowing who he is, Hands on the Wheel etc Easily one of my favorites. Guy is a reliable act, old to new.
I’ve had a healthy disdain for southern rap over the past decade outside of a couple guys. That has lead me to really kinda close myself off from the south in general wrt giving southern rappers a go. I’ve heard Big KRIT on a few things and liked him quite a lot and have meant to give him a go in earnest but honestly just really dove in a couple nights ago. What a fucking treat. The fact he’s under the radar is a fucking shame but man he’s really gotta nice space for what he’s doing. This guy is instantly to the top of my list
Not sure what you listened to but definitely check out his first few mixtapes. KRIT wuz here and Return of 4Eva are both great. Sample heavy old school southern rap.
Dude you should. It’s got the bounce you’d expect but he’s excellent with the wordplay and delivery and does a good job of moving between thoughtful and funky. I really dig it

Man. Shit is weird sometimes. I hadn’t listened to KRIT in probably 6 months or so before today. Saw TrustyPatches post and then spent most of the morning listening to his stuff. I always stop by my local record store on Friday at lunch. Both to kill time and see if they have anything new. One of the first records I found in their “new” bin was Return of 4Eva. $8. Now listening to it on vinyl. Solid friday fellas.
Great production and maybe 1 or 2 tracks I like, rest not so much Good for him though, as it seems like it is universally praised
It’s great man. Awesome vibe, killer hooks and his delivery is so crisp and cool. I think there’s a few hits on there. Speedboat and automatic are fucking great songs. He even got the best out Ross on his feature. Killer fuckin album
Without listening I’m gonna assume it sounds like future. There may not be a musical act i history who’s deviated from where they started less than future
