I don’t even think Bush will be a good pro but he sure as shit made more sense than a damn TE. Way to fuck this up Quinn
He’s an excellent blocker. Most teams have two TEs. We didn’t have anybody worth a shit after James. He will definitely be a 3 down player. They didn’t draft him to sit on bench.
9 first round TEs in the last 11 years, 3 by the Lions. 2 TEs taken before the 19th pick in that time frame, both by the Lions.
The Lions have drafted 2 of the 8 tight ends taken in the Top 10 in the last 45 years of the NFL draft. They've done it in the last 6 years.
Is it ever the plan to draft in the top 10 and not play them? Course not, but it happens and my opinion is he brings nothing that James doesn’t do. We could grab a backup TE in round 3 and have improved one of the many holes in the front 7
I'm just updating my files from when the previous idiot who thought he was smarter than everybody took Ebron.
That’s not true. James is a solid backup TE. He’s not on the same level as Hockenson. It’s not even close.
I disagree. We shall see but he isn’t elite and shouldn’t have been a top 10 pick. Nobody else was going there,
Almost every single mock draft had him in the top 10. Some even had him going before us. He’s a special talent.
All those mocks in top ten were to the Lions because they know we were dumb enough to tale him there. Ill eat my words if he proves me wrong but I expect a average TE that’s biggest contribution will be in the run game.
I think jrester06 will be sucking Hockenson Dick after he catches 100 balls and has 20 touchdowns this season.
FACT Going to be fun watching Bush, Oliver and the likes making plays all over the place and this guys hit the highlight tape for a good seal block on. KJ td every 6 weeks. Ah well
Lets put it this way, you didn’t even know who the fuck he was and he plays in the conference with us until the combine and mocks started. 100 balls and 20 tds, maybe in 6 seasons lol
I don't really have an opinion either way on Hockenson. I think he has a chance to be Travis Kelce, and if he is this was a good pick. It's just hard for me to buy in to that all the way right now given that we've got a new OC who traditionally hasn't featured the TE, and a coach who wants to go old school and run it a lot. I think it was easier to project the impact of a number of other players on the 2019 season if we had gone a different route. I'm happy we didn't take an OL, though. I think that would have been a waste on some level after all the picks we've used there and the only current opening being at guard.
I kinda wish we'd taken Haskins. Sit him behind Stafford for a year then trade or cut Stafford. Same impact on 2019 and better in 2021.
Never watched him play, but on name alone I hope we take Rock Ya-Sin in the 2nd round. And again without ever watching him play I'm pretty confident he'd be an upgrade over Tabor
I can't wait to see what Captain Shithead pulls today. Probably another slow CB in round 2, then a G reach in the 3rd.
