I will give you that you're pretty much going to get the same thing every time out of Kevin Parker's vocals, outside of what they do in production. The music is always very different though despite the heavy synth presence they've adopted.
Omni signed to Sub Pop. Their first two albums were soooo good. Seeing them 5/14 and I'm so stoked They released a couple new songs: Delicacy and I Don't Dance
Some Tame live opener spoiler thoughts: Went to the tour opener last night in the Fox Theater. It was a no-phone show, so going by memory here, but here's a couple things for people that want to hear for show splitting purposes or aren't going: -They played for essentially 95-100 minutes so pretty sure they were running their full Coachella show front to back -Opened with "Let it Happen" which completely bangs following a one-minute avant garde type film intro of people walking through a field (I thought it would be a super scene-y LA crowd, but very good overall vibes) and they shot off multiple confetti canons at the peak of the song. Imagine that will be sick on the fields -Went straight into "Patience" into "The Moment", both of which really kept the energy up -Lasers come into full effect during "Elephant" and it will be pretty impressive visually -Confetti canons came out twice more - once at the apex of "New Person" and once during I thinnnnkkk "Less I know the Better" but I obviously didn't have a phone to note it down -They close with a run of bangers and a hit parade, so if you're splitting this set, the last 30 mins is the peak I think -Overall Kevin is a lot more comfortable doing stage work and has a much better stage presence than last time I saw them in 2016/2017. Interacted with the crowd a lot during "Backwards" and had the crowd sing the whole second chorus while he kind of orchestrated it (gamble at Coachella!) -Band sounded really tight, and they're ready for the moment, hopefully the crowd comes through. Only 2 new songs and a bizarre 1-2 minute interlude I didn't recognize, so don't expect anything else.
he said one album you listen to on the way to Vegas and the other you listen to on the way back. Oxnard is definitely more gritty than Ventura, which is probably why I like Ventura more. Really surprised the pitchfork review dropped a Smino reference in the article - that’s my guy
Saw Better Oblivion Community Center tonight Between this, boygenius, and her solo work Phoebe is just killing it.

you guys the Kevin Morby singles all sucked but this album is fucking amazing. The singles all fit when you listen straight through and he has some art on here. “Seven” sounds like fucking George Harrison
if I were asked to name one musician I enjoy who is most likely to be nominated for an Oscar as a result of a soundtrack he/she will write in the future, my pick would be Kevin Morby I didn't realize Shannon Lay is in Feels. Saw her open for Morby in fall '17. She is a wonderful guitarist Marika Hackman - i'm not where you are
A bunch of albums dropped today on redacted... Nick Murphy Local Natives Catfish and the Bottleman Winnetka Bowling League Kevin Morby
DIIV is gonna release a third LP this year. First one was amazing (IMO) and second one had its moments. Zachary Cole Smith has since gotten sober so I am hopeful this one is really good Institute - Deadlock
Really enjoying the new Local Natives. I wasn't feeling a couple of the singles, but this album is pretty great overall imo.
it makes sense that Kevin Morby wrote this record before he wrote City Music. It’s becoming my favorite record of the past several years tbh
