The show has spent years railing against people in sports who say nothing. That is literally all SVG does. He refuses to say anything negative about about anyone in the league.
See, I couldn't disagree with this part more. I look forward to his weekly appearance more than any other on the show. I'm starting to realize that I don't even really listen to the show for thought provoking content at this point though. I just love all the personalities, even when they're being amped up a bit for effect. I guess I almost listen to it as a comedy podcast with the actual content secondary.
And they give him plenty of shit for it. Just this past week, they researched the refs for a playoff game where he was complaining about the officiating but refused to give names.
When SVG was getting ready to be a permanent host, he was awesome. He participated in all the shenanigans and said what was on his mind. Then he no-showed one day and then was the GM/Coach in Detroit. Since he’s come back, you can tell he doesn’t want to badmouth anyone that might give him another coaching job. It’s annoying.
She’s awful and they forcefeed her. She’s been funny a couple of times when the convo is organic and she’s a really good writer. She’s just not good in the way they present her schtick
Stan does say a whole lot of nothing and that’s why he’s one of my least favorite guest hosts. The last couple of weeks with him have been a bit funnier though
Yesterday's Tiger/White House segment is everything I was saying I don't like about the show - a potentially interesting topic torpedoed by Stugotz going over the top and a magic crate of content. Also did anyone else notice that the number of non-sports guests has fallen off? Dennis Quaid was yesterday and it was fine but I felt like there was a long period where there were multiple of those per week. Are they funneling to the podcast network now?
naw, it's been that way for a very long time. the amount of guests has gone WAY down over the past few years. I never really noticed it until you just said it.
Anyone listen to the live show from New York? I listened to the first 30 minutes of it and I thought it was pretty cringey. Maybe it was better in person but I didn’t find the part I listened to all that funny.
Classic case of getting spread to thin. Their shit is funny when it’s organic and spontaneous. Hell, they left the million dollar studio because they felt it took away from the spontaneity. Now they’re doing too much and are having to force it, and bring Kimes around, which isn’t funny at all.
No. She’s awful and unfunny. She derails the show and Dan force feeds her to us. You won’t change my mind. I’ll die on this hill. Just sucks because she’s a very good writer and I enjoy her work on that realm very much.
yesterday's show was trash and weekend observations is the worst regular segment going. the original game notes were pretty funny but its evolution is awful. I think I like the local hour so much since Stugotz isn't really on it. He's gone from sidekick to total takeover and makes most of the show unlistenable.
Is that really why they left the pool-side studio? I always thought that was great and added to the "Miami" look of the show. Plus Dan's stories of walking through the place to get to that studio were classic. I think that's Dan's purpose. He says all the time he enjoys exposing new talent to the show and seeing them take off and he would rather sit in the background and let people like Mina, Amin, Stugotz, Mike, et al get all the spotlight.
They are still in the poolside studio. It's just re-configured to look like a radio studio instead of a TV studio like they had before.
That's absolutely what fulfills him as far as hands-off during local hour. But I wouldn't include Stugotz in that category.
He's talked about it enough, I think it extends the whole "Lebatard" brand now. The national show, HQ, Lebatard AF, etc
UFC guy who knocked out his opponent in 5 seconds was in studio. Naturally the show had to end with a fight between him and Stu Gotz. This resulted in Stu Gotz going full Karate kid on Masvidal
I hate when Dan says “intergalactically stupid” and “uproariously funny.” Not sure why, but it annoys me.
I lived in Fort Wayne for years but don’t listen to the show. What is this and how did this connection come about?
The short version is there been some tension between the show and Indianapolis/dan dakich dating back to around the Lebron heat/pacers playoff series. The show recently debuted in Fort Wayne and also there was an instance of dakich and sedano arguing during a summer league game about whether Spo is a top coach in the nba, that and previous dakich tension was discussed on the show for a few days, meanwhile, some guys that were into the show in Fort Wayne decided to ask the mayor for the said proclamation. In true Lebatard fashion, somehow, we’ve arrived here.
I mean that dipshit said Spo, with 2 rings, isn’t a top 3 coach in the NBA and told Sedano to stop being a homer. He then listed his top 3 as Popovich, fucking Brad Stevens and wait for it........Nate McMillan. Guy is a fuckhead and should go die somewhere.
