At the start of the incident. Get out of the car, turn it on. Muscle memory. Any interaction with the public needs to be documented. Cruiser cam for front and back seats come on with each activation of emergency beacons and have to be turned off manually.
Between on button and lens on the front. Pretty good recordings too unless there is gunfire which throws the audio off for a little bit.
It is. I was against it at first because I felt any chance of solving a problem that wasnt within policy would go out the window. EX: you shall impound the vehicle of a no ops driver, when it is their vehicle. The person is homeless or has a bunch of kids in the car. Do I get hemmed up for using some discretion and not towing the car? I now like it. The complaints I have had, being rude, stealing money have not been investigated because every camera at the scene, with multiple officers showed nothing happened. If anything officers are more apt to get into trouble for cutting monorities breaks because they are scared shitless of getting terminated.
So pretty much every case has discoverable body cam footage. I bet that contradicts a lot of defendants stories on what happened.
It does. But, there is no charge against someone that makes a blatantly false accusation. Deputy beat the shit out of me in the back of his cruiser. Person was never in cruiser. Never got out of their vehicle and just had a routine traffic stop. They show the complainant the recording and they say "Guess I was wrong" and leave.
Perjury. But I wasn’t referencing complaints or civil suits, I’m talking Attorney-client conversations about the facts. Body cams would be huge for video footage showing exact location of evidence. Also help with time lines.
It does. Funny enough its been used to write better reports, which dont matter because what's on video is better. And yes, lawyers have it easier too.
I wish. Now reports are expected to be perfect. You know what a defense attorney will do, attack anything that doesnt line up exactly with the video. Sir, you said this happened at 2:58 and the video shows 2:59. Do you always falsify your reports? Best is OVI. Guy passed out in his car, admits to being drunk and bombs his field testing. You will get a motion for something like testing not being perfect, but for the most part therw is nothing to argue. Just plead.
In some cases. It can take up to 3 hours to upload and if its a complicated burglary or something where youre at the scene for a long time it will take longer to upload. Reports should be accurate. But like I said they dont matter because they just review the video. The only time a report matters is when it doesnt line up exactly, which in a bigger scene youre relying on multiple officers to piece together what happened. I'm sure you know what im talking about. And in those cases it takes detectives and a few days to get everything lined up, but reports need to be done by end of shift so you have to write without review.
On a related matter, former Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor has been found guilty of third degree murder and second degree manslaughter for the unjust shooting of unarmed Australian woman Justine Ruszczyk Damond two years ago: https://www.9news.com.au/world/us-n...med-noor/b1342c42-8c33-4d45-9f25-cde2291e23a3 Not sure how many of you guys have been following this story in the States given the high number of police-related shootings that tend to occur over there, but this has been a big story down here and most Aussies are pretty relieved justice appears have been served - at least on the assumption this guy gets any kind of appropriate sentence, that is.
It happened less than 2 miles from my house. It has dominated coverage in the Twin Cities. I am very pleased with the verdict.
This is good, I just wish the outcome were the same when the cop is white and the victim is a person of color.
I hear you, man. The disgraceful stuff that some white officers have gotten away with over the years - even in recent times - is unbelievable, and I'm just some joker watching from afar in another country. I can't imagine how angry I'd be about that kind of thing if it was happening where I actually lived.
Damn, she really did sound like she just fucked up. Doesn't change my opinion though. She should still be held accountable. I know the was in a panic but pretty fucked up that losing her job was her first concern.
How how how do you fuck that up? Lock her away if for no other reason than preventing her procreation.
If Mr. Jean had “just fucked up” by mistakenly barging into Ms. Guyger’s apartment and killing her, he’d be going to jail. She should get the same treatment.
Absolutely. I said as much in my post. I'm not excusing her actions, just seems on the call that she genuinely just fucked up. That's not an excuse. Someone still died and she should be held accountable.
I'm glad the Noor case is now out of the way and there's clear air so that this fucking horrendous situation can get all the attention it deserves. I don't think any reasonable person could see any alternative end result but a lengthy prison sentence... which will probably mean she'll get off.
Cliffs: -former small town police chief kills guy who was shutting off his water for not paying the bill (was the uncle of a couple kids I coached at the time) -arrested and pleads guilty and sentenced to 30 years -DNA goes into database which brings up a hit on an old cold case, a rape of a local school teacher in a town 10 mins away from him. The lead detective on that case is now the police chief at my brothers station. He got really emotional when he got that call because it was a case that always haunted him that he couldn’t solve. -he also pleads guilty to the rape and will never get out of prison. https://www.nwahomepage.com/news/un...ource=facebook_KNWA_-_Northwest_Arkansas_News
"Listen to me, what you have on the back of your window, OK, is a misdemeanor in the state of Florida," says the deputy. "I have four kids, a 14-year-old, a 10-year-old, a 6-year-old and a 4-month old. If my 6-year-old was to look at me and ask, 'Dad, what does I eat ass mean?' I would be furious." Personally, I'd laugh and come up with some dumb meaning for my kid. I may just be a terrible parent though.
“Webb's lawyer, Andrew Bonderud, told BuzzFeed News that his client is a courageous and brave man for standing up for his right to tell the world his love for eating ass,” El Oh El
Only the cop is an idiot. Small town Florida cops are just wonderful. Guy definitely barely graduated high school.
I was just being a smartass. Riding around with "I Eat Ass" is pretty fucking stupid but yea the cop just wanted to force his beliefs into the situation.
I wouldn't do it but to each their own. Ass is a word that is said on radio and everything all the time. Its not an obscene word. When he told him to take one letter off he should have taken the I off and told him to fuck off.
I don't think "ass" is the issue, it's the "eat ass" that's pretty vulgar. Not something he should go to jail for but pretty fucking stupid to have on your back window.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...r-chase/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.7a399c731a38 “Both Officers Pedersen and Staymates reasonably feared their lives were in danger multiple times during the pursuit when Nava pointed the gun directly at them,” prosecutors wrote in a summary explaining why they did not pursue criminal charges. They added: “A jury analyzing these facts would justly conclude that it was reasonable for Officers Staymates and Pedersen to believe that their lives and the lives of others in the area were in danger.” How about, you know, maybe we let a jury decide that instead of a DA that's in bed with the cops deciding for them?
Cop shouldn’t have slammed her but it’s sad we are promoting a culture where resisting arrest is the right thing to do.
No, we’re promoting a culture where resisting the violation of your basic civil rights is the right thing to do.
