He won't be in the Derby, but a horse to keep in the back of your mind for at least the Preakness is Alwaysmining. He's the best looking Maryland-based contender I've seen in a while, with only Kid Cruz really rivaling him over the past decade (and Alwaysmining has definitely been the more impressive of the two to me, at least to this point). Just walked over a weak field in the Federico Tesio, but has beaten horses like Win Win Win and Gray Magician in prior races. His speed figure from his race in the Private Terms (96 Beyer) in his prior start would fit with the top Derby contenders. Not saying that he's your likely Preakness winner, but the Tesio horses more often than not are one of the first horses you can dismiss in the Preakness. Don't think that will be the case this year.
He was impressive Also enjoyed the WV bred winnng the Charles Town Classic. $600k for those connections
Losing day today. If my best bet reflector doesn’t get nailed by a nose on the line by a 15-1 shot then would’ve been 3 for 3 Oh well-on to tomorrow
Based on $2 win bets I returned $15.60 on $18 bet. I’ll post picks tomorrow again before the races. Post time is 2:30 I believe
I guess the favorites never win at LS Seems like my kinda track, seeing as how I avoid favorites at all costs
Did not think they would let the leader get away with an opening quarter of fucking 26.5 seconds. It was over after that
Pretty standard for racing. People get exited when they only take out 12% of exotic bets like pick 5s
Three winners in a row to end. I just missed out on a couple exotics that would’ve made it a real nice night.
Backing CJ McMahon seems pretty profitable too. How long can he keep riding winners? And for the second race the 1 and 1a always confuses me. Which are you supposed to bet?
They’re the same bet. If you bet the 1 you get both horses Usually they do this because they’re owned and trained by the same people It’s to prevent the owners and trainers from screwing with the parimutuel odds
Isn’t bute just an NSAID like aspirin? I watched Oaklawn all day. Do you guys bet via App? Is it worth getting the NYRA app and doing the bonus $200?
Gallant Knight i got a buddy doing a big superfecta for the derby. Any horses he should throw in there? Doing something like a nine horse box so prob losing lol
Great draw for bellafina. Pace is going to be interesting, race looks like it should collapse. After my first pass, Friday looks extremely chalky. My girl newspaperofrecord is fucking back and should absolutely romp. She’s the best 3 year old filly in the world. Hope chad steers her to ascot and not the NYRA turf series
Did you guys see the Belmont Park race on Saturday where the jockey on the 3 horse fell off coming out of the gates and the horse made a comeback and ended up getting 2nd (didn't count obviously)? https://www.nyra.com/belmont/racing/results?date=2019-04-27 It's the 6th Race if you want to see the vid.
I kind of like Tacitus but TBD. He was getting bumped all over the place in the wood and still won but over a length against tax
Going into the draw, I was leaning towards Omaha Beach and Tacitus as my two leading contenders. Still want to do my deep dive with the PP's, but initial thoughts are the draw didn't do anything to change that. I think the most difficult thing about handicapping this Derby will be differentiating the Baffert horses. All will take money, and all of them are logical in this spot, but assuming I do still like Omaha Beach and Tacitus, I think you need to take some sort of stand against at least one of that trio, especially up on top. Otherwise you are betting too much money on what would be a somewhat limited upside.
Not really sure how I’m doing to do my exotics between, Omaha beach, Tacitus, Improbable, Game Winner, and Maximum Security.
