I dont really bother looking at the standings this early in the year. Didnt even realize Cardinals have the best record in mlb , much less the division. Neat.
schedule sets up nicely for the next month or so, if we can't get to around 10 games above 0.500 then missing the postseason 4 times in a row is most likely
Luckily for the Cards, this division sucks. It's hard to believe they're only 2.5 games out of first. Need to rack up wins against these bad teams. Im pretty excited for Albert to come back this weekend.
Was fully prepared to see an 8 game deficit after the Stanley cup was over. The blues run made it easy to avoid that bad stretch.
Cornelius Suttree your boy is off to a ripper of a start. Is there any doubt he's goign to be the next Mike Trout? Northern player a bit under scouted that fell in the draft??? Prove me wrong
Somehow this garbage team is just a half game out . unreal Also this is a fun thread https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1119684044361539584.html
I would think so. The bullpen has been amazing but this isn’t sustainable under the current workload.
I realize carp is 0fer in minors but it's time to call him up and hope he gets it back. The other options are not better right now
Problem is im not sure they’re worse Hopefully that was Hendricks last inning. Cards just can’t hit him.
I know I'm probably the biggest pessimist here, but I have a hard time seeing success in the foreseeable future with the team and the strategy we've been employing for the past 5 years. We need a new approach from ownership on down. I'd rather go through a complete tear down and rebuild than continue being lukewarm and just on the outside looking in. Paying for 06 and 11 karma I suppose.
I’d be ok letting Mo go. The organization was way ahead of the curve as far as advanced scouting and analytics. The rest of the league has caught up and a lot had passed us. There’s been a troubling trend of developing a good farm system only to have them flame out when they hit the majors. It’s an issue.
Well, a lot of the advantage we had is now in Houston. They've obviously benefited from tanking and having high picks for a few years, but they've developed those guys and then some while also making shrewd moves for major league talent and recognizing guys who were being screwed up by their previous organizations, fixing them, and reaping the benefits. We, on the other hand, continue to seemingly try to sign guys post prime, then be disappointed when they don't produce like they used to. And the problem we appear to have transitioning our minor league talent to the majors you mentioned.
I almost don't want to come here for fear i jinx it, but https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27480495/how-did-cardinals-take-nl-central-race
I was what the fuck was he thinking until they showed the angle later that umpire was blocking his view
You watching the Cardinals broadcast? Later in bottom of the inning they showed a replay that 2nd base umpire anticipated him going to second and was getting away from runner and when dejong turned he was in his line of site of first. Both of our announcers are convinced this is what he will say happened after game
3 out of 4 against the Giants is nice. Good showing for Hudson, and nice to only have to use 1 releiver. If Cabrera can be a reliable lefty out of the pen down the stretch would be huge.
As long as the bats stay warm, big if - I’ll feel pretty good about making the post season. SP has been pretty good, not great. Defense has been amazing. It’s the streaky hitting that kills. Seems like everyone is hot right now.
