I love 2021 and fits right into the Bon Iver discussion, because it does borrow from his style when they say Boy.
initial thoughts in the form of a math equation vampire weekend + rostam >>> vampire weekend - rostam
Big Thief album is amazing Vampire Weekend album is inconsistent in terms of genre jumping, but I like the new songs on the second half as well as the singles that have been released so far.
I'd say Justin has pretty good range, granted he uses a falsetto to get there but it's still range. For me, someone's tone and use of it to pair with the sound they are creating matters more than just being objectively a talented singer.
18 songs on the album, so 12 new songs. Getting great reviews (RS gave it 4.5 out of 5, although I'm sure no one in this thread cares). I'm excited. I've liked most of the singles, especially unbearably white
The songs are all so short, never lets me immerse enough. On the last one now. Sympathy was a bit of a foot tapper.
I mean both Harmony Hall and Unbearably White push 5 mins. Also, I feel like most of my favorite VW songs are short
True, those are ones I've heard a few times already so I was paying less attention. Several hover around 2 minutes, +/-, over before I know it. And even though I have heard 2021 just as often as the other singles, I still replayed it on the playthrough because it's my favorite of the album and I wanted it to be double the length.
I am so pumped to see him in such an intimate and informal setting on Saturday. What is the story behind the blindfold? Was she kidnapped and brought there? That seems awesome.
the one to one series was done at a festival and they would pick one person blindfold them and walk them to a room where someone is there to perform one song here's another one
New National song... feat. Matt dancing like Thom Yorke also I have no idea how I missed this track, and I didnt see it posted in the thread. Video is fucking depressing, but beautiful.
I thought about tagging him earlier so he could get in here and discuss his favorite artist, but I resisted.
Such an incredible song, too. Every time I hear it I'm reminded that it's not on Spotify for some reason and it makes me angry
Fuck yes this Versing album has me really feeling things for a couple of reasons. One, 2019's unfortunately been a string of musical disappointments so far, so I needed this. Secondly, to me most of these 90's revival acts fall flat with a watered down sound and maddening overuse of the same generic indie-pop drums simply acting as a back beat. Versing seems to really nail it though and adds their own touches as well, good stuff good stuff.
Yes. Not up to par with the previous releases, but still OK. I'm going to give it another chance today with a week's distance. Just listened again. It's not memorable but good background music.
I noticed Colleen Green has a Boston show soon. I'm hoping for some new tunes in the near future if she's going cross country
Anyone who likes Sylvan Esso should check out Alaskalaska Working my way through it while watching some baseball. This album is fantastic
