Smoked pastrami at Pieous Pizza in Dripping Springs (southwest of Austin). This shit is the truth. Update on lechnerd 's high BMI, it is in jeopardy. He couldn't even finish one sandwich. And he wanted to order a sandwich and a pie when he first arrived until cooler heads prevailed.
Chicken is on the smoker for posole. Heating up some coals to smoke/roast the peppers on my kettle. Can't wait
Did NOT. While I was getting gas after you and I parted ways I got an “urgent” text from my wife that the kids were being bad and she needed help. It took me 1.5 hours to get home only to find out the kids were with her parents. In brighter news I took your advice and drained the bottom of the tank that holds the cartridge filter...that worked incredibly well. The waterfall from the hottub is flowing very well, the vacuum is running robustly and the water looks super clear. Now if only I could get my Hayward heater working...
I didn't get the char I wanted on the veggies but they smelled good and had a hint of smoke flavor. Used my Weber kettle since my smoker isn't quite big enough for a sheet pan, don't think it got as hot as I wanted.
This stuff is incredible and so easy. Will definitely be making it again. Would be perfect for a late fall night football game
I had a friend in med school (at The Tulane School of Medicine) who lived in the same apt. complex as me in Kenner, LA. Anyways the friend was away doing something and his GF called me because there was "something scary" hissing at her from under her car. So I go over there and enter her garage and proceed to get on the ground, when I look under the car I see the above creature staring back at me (except 10x as big I'm sure) and hissing an ungodly noise. I told her she should wait until her BF gets home so he can properly deal with the situation.
Not really clear on the BGE sizes. What would my limits be with a small... could I even get a brisket on there? Ribs?
I have trouble fitting 2 racks of ribs on my medium. Even after slicing each rack in half and putting them in a vertical rib rack (so that there are 4 rows), I have trouble closing it. 1 rack is fine, though. Would guess that a small could fit a single rack of ribs, but not sure of the difference in size in small and medium.
I mean I just dropped $40k in renovations and another $4k in kitchen appliances... what’s another $3k in grills?
I bought my BGE back in college, but due to the aforementioned space limitations I will probably be purchasing another grill in the near future. Currently trying to decide between Kamado Joe and Primo, and leaning towards Primo
Paid for half, yeah. It got stolen one spring break and the police found it 6 months later. Little guy has lived quite the life.
They pulled a van up to the porch it was sitting on, slid open side the door, and just loaded it into the van and drove away. It was spring break and they hit up every house on the block while everyone was gone. About 6 months later, they got busted selling drugs and I had the only outstanding police report for a stolen BGE. I was able to identify it through a chip in the ceramic and I got it back. Aside from the metal band being loose, it was pretty much fine.
I like how they stole it for personal use and not to flip for cash "We could get some serious cash for this or a lifetime of BBQ"
Anyone use a grill mat under their Komodo? Looks like they are rectangular for the most part, trying to find a circle or square shaped one.
I have a large BGE and love it. I do kinda wish I had an XL. The only time it's really a problem is when you are trying to do ribs and cook something else at same time. I can do 3 racks of ribs on a vertical rack but you can't fit wings in at the same time. If you had a big brisket in there you wouldn't have room for anything else. That usually isn't an issue for me because I'm typically cooking for me and my wife. But if you cook for large numbers then you're going to want an XL.
I haven't done a butt in years. For whatever reason I view it as the least sexy or fun of the big ticket bbq items. I mean it's absolutely delicious, don't get me wrong. I typically go for ribs, wings, or brisket. Maybe it's time to do one.
I prefer the large bge 90% of the time to the xl and I had both for like 4 years or so. Unless it was a big tailgating weekend the xl size was unnecessary, especially if you just have the 2nd rack inside the large Though I mean it's not that big of a deal and almost everything I do is unnecessary anyways so whatever
$375, good deal? Haven’t heard this brand mentioned, ever. https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/for/d/alpharetta-moving-sale-furniture/6849371770.html
Was getting ready to say you can order it off of Walmart.com. Nothing good or bad about that statement, just an observation.
They're nice though, I've fucked with them in the store. Only thing I don't like is the plastic vent cap
For real though, any ceramic grill/smoker is going to be a step up from what we grew up watching our dads cook with. Some will be slightly more efficient than others. Plastic parts on a rig that I am going to get up to 900 degrees on occasion do give me serious pause though.
Close, looks like it’s the model Home Depot sells for $700. I was just going to spend $300 on an Akron, so this seems like a better option for about the same price. https://www.homedepot.com/p/206493536
