Yeah, kinda my thoughts exactly. Anyone looked at our depth chart? Its...not good. We'd need prime Peyton Manning to field a decent offense and I don't know anything that can help the defense with our "pass rushers" and LBs. No QB is setting shit on fire this year on this team.
Ideally we show growth with him at QB. Put up points but the defense allows points and we lose games. Still get a high pick but don’t need to draft another QB and can keep getting talent in other areas, then he really sucks in 2020 and we take Lawrence
94/1 odds to win the super bowl for us Somehow the redskins and i think the second team is buffalo have worse odds
I know you disagree, but that is exactly why I didn't like the trade. Our roster was shit, and now that it's been further gutted it is the worst in the NFL. I don't know what we can possibly expect to see from Rosen that we didn't see last year with a similarly shitty cast around him. I don't even know that it's fair to him to ask him to perform well under these circumstances, but an opportunity in the NFL to start is an opportunity I guess. I don't know how much he's going to have a chance to show more than he showed last year on a team like we are going to have. My feeling is that we have wasted a pick in order to give a guy a tryout year where he has an extremely small chance of success. The result is likely 1) we end up drafting a QB high next year, which means the Rosen pick was burning draft capital that could have been used to bolster a depleted roster or 2) we "give him another go" and try to improve the talent around him, getting us in another Tannehill situation where we keep trying to "see if he can turn the corner" and waste more years on a mediocre guy that can't hack it. I just kind of felt like it was a lose/lose. If he plays well, then it's a genius move, but I don't see that happening on this team. For the record I don't think he'd play well on a good team either but I guess we will see. But if I had to bet I'd bet strongly that we are looking for a QB in next year's draft too. Last time I'm going to chime in on it I swear haha but I just feel like those picks would have been better served drafting for other needs that have a far higher chance of success.
Team take a qb every year until you get a franchise guy. The risk involved with Rosen is low I don’t know how you don’t take it. There’s no way to say that tua, Herbert, love, or Fromm are sure things either, and you’re going to have to dedicate a lot more capital to any of them. Caldwell and O’Shea are guys that have a pretty good grasp on what they need to see from a franchise guy. If we have a bad record next year and Rosen’s play is not amazing due to talent around him, and not from the way Rosen himself plays, I feel like you can trust those coaches to identify that.
This is a reasonable take. I have to admit that there is personal bias because I really do believe Tua is special franchise changing talent, and I like Herbert more than Rosen too. But you never know what will happen I guess, I've def been wrong about highly drafted guys before (I loved D. Parker). I don't totally hate it, because worst case scenario is that you have a cheap quality backup QB which has some value, though probably not second round pick it's not nothing... so it's not like drafting Pat White.
I like the Rosen move a lot after giving it some thought. Give up a 2nd for a 1st rd talent who’s still on his rookie deal. Worst case we give him til his deal ends and let him go. Maybe the most promising QB we’ve had in years but who knows with this franchise.
Unfortunately, until proven otherwise, I don't trust a single member of the Miami Dolphins coaching staff to be able to correctly identify their own nose, much less subtle reasons for our teams performance. I want to be wrong. I want to trust them, I just can't yet.
This is a different staff than has been here, one with a pretty good track record for qbs (O’Shea, Caldwell) If you’re judging them based on the fact that they wear a dolphins logo now, does it really matter how talented or not the qb prospect is? Would you trust them not to ruin tua or Herbert anyways?
Stud yes But i think most dolfans are burned by the Tannehills/Cleo Lemons/AJ Feeleys/Sage Rosenfels of the world to be just good enough to be mediocre and no where near a title contender. Like we've been for the last 15 years
Tua, Fromm, Herbert, love, Lawrence- every one of those guys could end up just mediocre. Keep shooting until you get the right one. Rosen is A shot, not THE shot
Im very ok with the Rosen move and have said so many times itt and elsewhere. "Shoot your shot" as many times as possible. Im just saying some examples why some might he apprehensive and i dont really blame them, been burned time and time again.
Guy has NFL talent, but there is clearly something going on behind the scenes if he keeps getting arrested
Mark Walton, with three criminal cases pending, gets a tryout with the Miami Dolphins https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&sou...aw0zNxpvlMdvLqS-RmkiqUTW&ust=1557606752300704
had a little bit of time here so went back and looked at some of our comments about Rosen right before the 2018 draft, funny how things can change so drastically in one season's time (mine included)
You think opinions shouldn't change after watching actual on field performance? And considering our situation has changed drastically as a team and our ability to improve upon Rosen with the draft capital added over time?
read again, wasn't criticizing at all, in fact I put my own in there. Just interesting to see a year later
Connor Barwin would be a great, low-risk signing. Doesn't produce like he used to but we need pass-rushing help and he's a really good leader to have in the locker room.
