We were heavily linked with Andre Gomes two days ago, but the Everton Manager spoke up and said he spoke to him and it is not true. I do feel there may be something in it. he was good today, but I am not sure he is what we need.

This has been the best worst season ever. When you think about what this team has had to overcome from having the most unrested players due to the World Cup, not making any signings, stadium delays that forced us to play the majority of our games on the road early, the amount of losses in the EPL, the injuries...for us to finish top 4 in PL and finals in CL is pretty great. We only had to hold serve this year going into next year when we have a brand new stadium, better rested players, and money to make signings, and next year should be a big year to build off of this one.

Everton have no say in the matter as Barca will take the best offer. He was quality at Valencia, but Barca absolutely destroyed him mentally. He’s very good on the ball, but we need a ball winner more than anything in the midfield. Gana would be perfect, but seems like he’s PSG bound.

If Gana goes anywhere it’s PSG. It would break my heart but I don’t blame him. As for Gomez I think part of the loan deal was first rights to buy, but who knows what that means. You guys are for sure in it, but I know he’s loved his time at Everton and we can throw money at people so I’m hoping it gives us a leg up.

I wasn’t suggesting Everton had a say. The manager supposedly spoke with him and he denied that he had cut a deal with spurs. My issue with Gomes is he is not someone who will win a ball in the ground. That is a non starter for me unless Poch thinks he can change that.

My understanding is they had no buy clause. Not sure if what you are saying is the way to get around that. This is not a guy that as a spurs fan I would be willing to overpay for.

Brands and Silva have said for a couple of weeks that most of the targets are ready to go, so it seems like we will get business done quick. You’re right about his place in y’all’s midfield unless Eriksen is gone? He’s better passer than sissoko better on ball the Dele, but obviously not as good in front of goal

I'm cool with that. I still think he's going to be a very good player and he's a Brit which helps our roster. We will also need to revamp our midfield and potentially our 10 position if Eriksen leaves.

His versatility is immense. He’d likely come on as a backup LW, but he’s played all over for FFC this season. Only 18 too, so I’m not buying into the talk this season was a major disappointment for him.

I’d be happy to go back for Grealish this summer as well if Villa fail to achieve promotion. I don’t think either guy is a true statement signing, but we need homegrown depth in a major way.

I feel like the rumors that have come up this year feel more like the rumors when we signed Vertonghen and Lloiris. Long time targets that we acted relatively quickly on. I would be surprised if Sessegnon is not done and dusted by July. To a lesser extent Gomes, who I am not as high on but still would be a solid squad player at worst. I don't buy the Bale rumors even though they keep trying to get us to believe. it sounds like he is dead set against moving, and I'm not sure Levy would bring him in at $10 million for a loan and $250K salary for one year and risk upsetting the stability of our wages with someone who is not the leader of the team. That said, if he stayed healthy he could be a beast on this squad. The thought of him and Son or him and Lucas on the wing is pretty scary with Harry up top and Dele as a 10. Our counter attack will be outstanding.

I like Gomes, and think his time at Valencia (and Everton to a lesser extent) coupled with Poch’s ability to bring out the best in someone (see: Sissoko, Moussa) makes him a very intriguing buy. He’s still only 25, so plenty of good years left. We’re still in desperate need of a ball-winning 6 though. I’d love Doucoure or Ndidi, but neither would come cheap.

What position would Gomes play for us? He is not a ball winning player outside of air duels. He would really need to learn how to play both ways to fit in our system and commit to defending and winning balls.

My wishlist of players I am interested in now (not all at once)...

    Sessegnon
    Brandt
    Lo Celso
    Ziyech
    N’Dombele
    Rabiot
Wan Bissaka or some rising RB
    Bale (just because)

    Cut bait...
    Lamela
    Trips
    Wanyama
    LLorente
    Aurier

I read Bale could happen on a loan with Real still paying a chunk of his salary. That would make it very possible imo

Even that seems like a long shot and would wreck Spurs wage structure.

Isn't your highest earner at like £200k per week? That's less than half of what Bale makes at Real.

I thought I remember the last contract he signed being around £500k-600k per week. Which would put his after tax earnings in that £300k-350k range. Could be wrong tho.

It's hard to trust what is reported as wages. I have seen anywhere from 350-650K per week, and some saying not taxed. I think it is actually on the lower end and the other is paid in easy bonuses.

We just need new players and more depth. I'm not going to get invested in any particular names because most transfer rumors are wrong. If Levy doesn't give Poch some fucking money to spend after the miracle he worked this past season then he'll be leaving as soon as a good offer arrives.
