This was last week on live TV, no clue if there’s footage of it. Fortunately it was a really small one. That same spotter helped rescue a couple older women who drove into a ditch they couldn’t see because of flooding, pretty sad to see it happen live
Idk. I'm kinda jaded right now... I haven't looked super closely for myself, but I do get the sense at least one of the next 5-7 days will produce more of a classic tornado event. I'm also very tempted to head up to ND today for a little chase....
Nice. Depending how it goes today I might try and get out to find some storms after work. Hopefully they stay discrete, it would be pretty awesome to chase around here
I’m a believer in historical trends and the risk area on Monday 5/20 checks every box for a terrifying day. Risk area goes from SW Oklahoma/Wichita falls and tracks NE through the entire state. May in Oklahoma with storms firing out of the Wichita Mountains and heading toward Central OK. 5/3/99, 5/24/11 and 5/20/13 all came out of that set up. Horrifying.
An extremely unstable Gulf air mass will be sucked into an intense low pressure area developing over west Texas late Monday. It will be undercut by a very cold air mass pulled down over the mountain west by a disrupted jet stream. Note, the European model is a little slower, so this scenario could happen on Tuesday instead of Monday.
THERE IS AN ENHANCED RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CENTERED OVER CENTRAL NEBRASKA AND WEST TEXAS.....SUMMARY... Severe storms are expected across parts of the Plains, mainly from Nebraska southward into west Texas. Very large hail and a few tornadoes are possible. Scattered severe hail is also possible across southern South Dakota, as well as across parts of Ohio and West Virginia.
So that last sentence... where are all of the videos of folks flying drones into these things to get rekt? Video/signal can’t broadcast far enough for safe-ish piloting? Tornadic signal interference?
Is the drones a new fad? Just started seeing stuff from drones on Twitter this season. I imagine the signal should be fine.
Doesn't look like the 11am update changed much. Very large hail, damaging winds and a smattering of possibly strong tornadoes.
