He's allegedly getting back to work on it again currently, which likely means it's not close to being done and there is a 0% chance he continually works on it instead of stopping to work on A World of Ice and Fire- A Book of Jerk Chicken Recipes from the Summer Isles.
If only there was a way to write a book in under 7 years. Oh I have an idea, don't write a bunch of other fucking books.
Since 2005 he has finished 1 (one) book in this series. One in the last 14 years. I've accepted that this story is ending on HBO.
Me in 2012, a sweet summer child: "What are you guys complaining about? A Dance with Dragons was just released last year!" Me in 2019, a sworn brother of the Night's Watch: "The books will never be finished and anyone who says otherwise should have his tongue removed."
Never forget that in 2004 he had book four basically completed. Barnes and Noble told him "it was too big, and would take up to much shelf space, for its price point." As a result they went back and split the book into two, a feast for crows and a dance with dragons. The plan was to release affc in 2005 then clean up a couple chapters in adwd and release it in 2006. Then they decided 2006 was too soon as the affc was still killing it in paperback. So 2007 was to be the year. Then grrm started over thinking and rewriting entire sections, got caught in his myraneese knot. If they had released the original book four he would have finished the series by now. It was rewriting adwd that broke him. Ive been on strike against b&n for going on 15 years now. Motherfuckers.
Gee, whose fault is that George? I’m sure you thought that as you were cashing all those HBO checks right?
Hey now, he may be working on his 4th goddamn story about the stupid fucking Dance of Dumbass Dragons. I can’t with this Fire and Blood bullshit.
I really would have preferred to have a good show and amazing books, but I do somewhat agree it's s silver lining
Say what you want about affc but the last third of adwd was great. He’s still a great writer. Lazy as all hell. But a great writer.
There’s zero chance dump has read the books (he couldn’t even graduate from A&M). You are being trolled
For sure. Book releases that big aren't kept hidden. There are too many steps along the way from final draft to printed copies shipped to bookstores. I'm willing to believe that the books will be announced as done next Monday. I'd put that at 1% possible. Maybe just Winds of Winter is done. I'd put that at 35%. Either way we're not reading anything until the late summer, at the earliest. That being said, I don't believe the guy who played Barristan Selmy knows anything regarding the books.
I'm taking all bets that nothing is announced Monday. If it was done years ago, it would've had a release date by now. The publishers aren't in this to not make money.
Or greatest move of all time is to let everyone watch an unsatisfying conclusion to the show and then drum up sales for the book by announcing it immediately afterwards and using a bunch of quotes about how GRRM disagrees with the show ending to market it
I’ve been of the mind that TWoW release date gets announced the Monday after the finale or not long after And we are all cucks who will preorder immediately
Like the show, the books had a noticeable drop in quality after the War of the Five Kings ended. Season four/Storm of Swords was the peak of the series, though I think the books rebounded after a dip in AFFC (which I didn't think was bad, just the weakest of the series). I still question if GRRM can bring everything home in two books.
I'm just hoping that, based on grrm's disdain for the ending of Lost, this motivates him to save the series. i also don't mind that one last fuck you to the...what do we call showfags now?
