The Queen awaits. I think I’m gonna sweep through the areas that aren’t quite 100% yet. I’ve managed to miss 1 of 9 of each health and rage upgrades and have a feeling I’ll need them.
Oh lawd Sigrun ran train on my ass. I need to take a break before I attempt this again. Like maybe an entire pack of cigarettes.
Loved it. It’s still fresh so it’s at the top of my list. The story was phenomenal, voice-acting was probably my favorite of any game, and gameplay was engaging. It could’ve used more boss battles as that’s what Santa Monica Studios does best but I’m glad they’ve set up a sequel with more Norse lore.
I think my favorite thing about the game is how it managed to fill me with childlike wonder over and over again throughout the game. So many moments i felt just like Atreus experiencing an epic and beautiful adventure that just had me overcome with a sense of awe. Not many games do that for me and when it happens it really takes me back to why I really and truly enjoy playing video games. When you combine that with the bad ass feeling you get from Kratos it’s just a hell of a ride. God of War 2018 is the most “must play” game of this generation imo. Beautiful, engaging and fun. A whole hell of a lot of fun. A lot of games give you a lot of shit to do, but not many make it a fun ride throughout. Probably gonna fire up a replay here soon.
Should have won best music/score too, RDR2 stole that. Was hands down the best game music this entire year.
I love Red Dead 2 (haven’t finished it) but GOW is one of those things that happens ever so often and the world is better for it. It really is a testament to how amazing GOW is that it beat out RDR2 for GOTY
Got to see him at our local comic convention last year. I just happened to walk in to the voice-acting panel not knowing who the guests would be, saw him and thought nothing of it, then heard him answer something totally unrelated and I almost fell out of my seat from the realization and the thundering boom of his voice.
Best moment of that show. Honestly, I hate award shows in all iterations, and I fast-forwarded through all the award-y type stuff for the most part, but I watched and enjoyed what I saw, and that's a testament to what Keighley has done with it. The exclusive reveals and content he gets on there is pretty impressive for something that didn't exist 5 years ago.
Yup, first playthtrough. I’m enjoying it. I’m in the Third Act. The gameplay and the puzzles are fun. Storyline is good, boss battles challenging. I’ve got a few minor quabbles (the backtracking, some levels completely uninteresting, that god awful running to the exit on that “other plane” when fast traveling). But overall it’s a good game. I’m not seeing the “Game of the Year” title for it, though. RDR2 was better. Hell, MHW was better for me, but I’m a weirdo that loves grind-heavy games. 8.75/10
Expect a little bit of a grind in Niflheim to get the gear needed to beat the rifts and Musplheim trials. Source: That sweet sweet plat
Already did that, unfortunately. Wish I could drop it from Give Me God of War difficulty just for the trials.
Couldn’t defeat any realms, just came across Valkyries lol Also. Feels like I’ve been playing forever. When does all the fast travel unlock? Everything says I can’t do it yet.
All I've needed to do for a year is find like 8 more Odins Ravens. One of these days I'm going to get around to it. I'd like to do a whole new playthrough.
I actually watched that earlier. It was quite good. It's interesting to see the toll working on these games has on a lot of these people.
Watched the Doc all the way up till the E3 showing. Has been a really good watch, but since I haven't beaten the game yet I don't want to watch any further and get something spoiled.
No boss has ever motivated me to grind for the absolute best gear like Sigrun did. What a satisfying victory when it finally happened for me.
She got her revenge 4 days later with my arm though. Will eventually do a new game Plus run and try to beat her without ax or revive, but who knows when ill have the time. Probably had her below two bars about 12 times before I finally beat her.
I think it took me about 30 times before I finally got the pattern down on when to do everything. My heart was racing when I finally killed her.
Trying to judge when she was going to use her one shot slam , and when it was a counterable wing attack or non-counterable wing attack was the toughest for me.
When she grabbed you and dragged you and pounded your face into the dirt three times for basically a one shot ko was the worst for me. Almost threw my controller several times.
