Briston Guidry is quitting football after SEVEN knee surgeries. Sucks, he was really good when he was healthy.... Which was for like a game and a half.
I think it’s huge. bertwing can probably give you a much better run down. However when you beat teams like Kansas for a kid, you have to be doing something right. Apparently he had around 50 teams reaching out to inquire as to if he would have interest in transferring.
Considering what our roster was this makes us more competitive quicker, so you should appreciate it. Vanover has 3 years of eligibility too and averaged nearly 10 ppg as a freshman. Moss was highly sought after and most conceded him to Kansas after he visited them after us. Land Kyree Walker and have him reclassify to 2019 and add one more decent big and we’re a top 15-20 team next year.
Sorry I cannot get exited about vanover Hope the mussel man does well. We will see He can’t be worse than chad—no one can
My concern with Vanover obviously is his mobility against quicker and stronger SEC bigs. You can’t play man with him and Musselman has never ran a zone defense in his life... so it’ll be interesting to see how that works out. Adding Cylla, Moss, and processing Ibby Ali (who would literally never contribute anything) to add Vanover who had a solid freshman year at a P5 school is definitely an upgrade. You’ve got a solid rotation going right now PG: Jalen Harris, Desi Sills, Justice Hill SG: Isaiah Joe, Isaiah Moss, G/F: Mason Jones PF: Reggie Chaney Jeantal Cylla, Adrio Bailey F/C: Conner Vanover, Gabe Osabouien, Ethan Henderson Need to add another scorer/SF type like Kyree Walker and this is a really solid team. I think Chaney, Henderson and Sills make big jumps next season from a consistency standpoint. Khalil Garland should be placed on medical hardship which will free up another scholly. Adding these transfers also balances your classes out, something that Anderson killed us with by taking all those JUCO’s and then replacing them with all freshman and not hitting the transfer market to get any experience.
The Vanover kids grew up behind me. Athletic was never ever not once used watching them grow Note: haven't seen this one in 5 years
Baylor offered too. I honestly have no idea other than to be a practice body for Gafford to abuse. Physically he’s solid, but dude was awful in high school for multiple programs. Saw him play a couple times in HS including in the state title game in Hot Springs against my nephews team. He was solid but Isaac McBride went nuts in that one. He got pushed around by our 6’3 post too. He can REALLY shoot the ball and will stretch the floor and create spacing. Can’t beat having him in the high post and just let him turn around and shoot elbow jumpers when teams go zone on us. He’s fucking 7’3 with a high release. No ones blocking that. We never had a forward that could get in the middle of that zone and allow us to work inside out and be a threat to hit a mid range jumper.
Has a nice healthy dream that Hicks threw for 300 yards and 3 TDs against Portland St and we still lost 33-21 That was nice
saving this for later <blockquote class="reddit-card" data-card-created="1558635983"><a href="">Hog fans were prepared for Sunday.</a> from <a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/razorbacks">r/razorbacks</a></blockquote> <script async src="//embed.redditmedia.com/widgets/platform.js" charset="UTF-8"></script>
So here’s where we are with basketball scholarship distribution Garland is obviously out, so one more needs to go. We are so thin at forward/C but we all know Muss does that “positionless” basketball so it’s not a huge deal to him. He’ll play five guys that are all 6’4-6’6 and be fine with it.
Lol at Whitt and vanover coming back Also not a huge fan of just building our team with 1 year grad mercenaries but I guess it is what it is
The 2020 class could be absolutely absurd for us so I get why we are going for a quick turnaround and get the chance to reload with the 2020 class. Getting guys that have proven themselves at the college level over some HS kids that may not pan out isn’t a bad idea either. You’ll be competitive every year, but you’ll never win any titles. The Whitt addition is weird because he doesn’t shoot well from 3, but does from mid range... but he’s a plus defender and rebounds well for a guard. Chaney and Cylla should get a ton of run and we’ll probably do a bunch of 4 guard lineups as well.
without ever playing a game? in favor of dudes with one season of eligibility from Jacksonville? mussel man better win because his recruiting style is brutal
That kid averaged 15 and 6 as a freshman. Justice can’t shoot from 3 and is basically another Jalen Harris, super fast but jumps higher and can really dribble. His offensive system requires his guards to be able to space the floor and shoot a lot of 3’s. Which is why I’ve mentioned Harris as a possibility to bounce. Muss never mentioned Justice as a part of their roster at any point during his speaking engagements when discussing next season. Guess he felt like he wasn’t a fit. I know we’re all stuck in that mindset of having guys stay 3-4 years to make the system work like we needed with MA. That’s not how it’s going to work with Musselman and isn’t what he needs to do to make his system work. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt based on how he’s improved the roster dramatically already
Also we are going to get at least one football commit today TE Brandon Frazier at 2:45pm. Very underrated and will shoot up the rankings. Also potentially getting WR Collin Sullivan or LB Martavius French soon.
i guess i'm if stepp is half as good of a coach as he is a recruiter he will be making a million a year soon
He’s an elite WR coach and recruiter. He’s been with Chad for a while and I imagine he’d get an OC job if he wanted it. He’ll get another healthy raise this offseason.
I know, you hate every coach. Offense will look much smoother when we have WR’s worth a shit and an OL that is P5 level. Knox and Burks are going to be monsters and Henry will be a Henry. I think the offense will be a LOT better this year, especially if Boyd can stay healthy.
