Arsenal/Chelsea get 6,000 tickets each(67,000 stadium) and have to travel 3,000 miles each way with no direct flights
Don’t know what the Arsenal/Chelsea podcast scene is like but the popular Liverpool crew took a bus to from Pool to Kiev last year and put out a ton of entertaining content along the way. A 60hr bus ride from London sounds a bit too far imo
Okay, I meant when ManU beat Ajax in 2017 EL Final, yet when the 2017/18 CL pots were drawn for the group stage, ManU was in Pot 2. Am I mixing the years up?
That’s awesome. I could not imagine spending 60 hours on a bus with anyone. I’d going absolutely batshit.
Catching up on this thread...This is incorrect. Spurs and Chelsea are in the group stage regardless of the Europa League final. When United won they didn’t bump Liverpool; 4th place only went to the playoff at that time. The Europa winner only bumps a club if the Europa winner and Champions League winner are from the same top 4 federation (right now ENG, SPA, ITA, GER) and both finish outside of the top 4 in the league. In that case the club in 4th goes to Europa group stage. It hasn’t happened yet but could have happened this year if United finished 4th at the expense of Spurs and Spurs and Arsenal win the finals.
That isn’t correct either though unless I’m misunderstanding you. In that scenario United would’ve been bumped completely, not just to the playoff. I’m aware because I’ve made reference to it a number of times down the stretch, it’s the scenario I was rooting for
Yeah no team can get bumped to the playoff by the Europa winner. The only bumping that can happen that involves the playoff is bumping the 3rd place #5 league club to the group stage instead of the playoff, and that only happens if the Europa winner has already qualified.
This is complete bullshit. Fuck UEFA. I hate arsenal but I hate FIFA/UEFA more. Bad enough Baku is far as fuck from where top European soccer is played. If certain players can’t go, Azerbaijan shouldn’t be allowed to host games. That simple.
To be fair to UEFA, this is probably just an unfortunate one off and this will never happen again. Spoiler
If arsenal were already qualified for the champions league I could see the clubs together holding more power. Arsenal have been consistent with their unhappiness but i don’t see them pushing it any further and risking the chance to play in the champions league next season.
There are 3 Euro 2020 matches there too, including a quarterfinal. Severe incompetence doesn’t even begin to describe it. Hopefully they play in an empty stadium.
Cute dog pics are very high on the list of things that will distract me from all the negativity surrounding this final
Looking forward to closing my office door this afternoon and acting like I’m on a call for this match...
Arsenal certainly came out wanting it more. Chelsea took time but eventually settled into the game, but their right flank needs some kind of examination in the dressing room.
The RW spot once Hudson-Odoi got hurt was always going to be an issue. People arguing if pulisic would play at Chelsea haven’t watched us enough. Pedro and Willian are both complete shit now.
Man I wish we had gotten Giroud before he went to Chelsea. I feel confident that we would have finished 7th and would have the distinct honor to play July Europa League qualifiers.
This is classic Chelsea, everything going wrong for them around the club, the exaggerated drama from yesterday in front of the cameras and yet...
