What should I know before mounting my TV above my fireplace? Side note it’s a “mantle mount” because the TV sits too high and I want to drop it down closer eye level.
Home Depot usually has it but you have to look closely because the cans are pretty inconspicuous. My HD didn’t have a ton of colors so I got mine at a smaller store called Sutherland’s. My garage is walnut
okay I know I was set on doing the walnut shutters but I think the white actually looks good. What do you guys think? Garage door colored or white? Also ignore al the overspray that I need to touch up :)
Yeah I found some gel stain at HD, but as Joe said it took me a moment to actually locate it once I found the aisle via the app.
We usually use the Ditra in low clearance applications. I like the concrete board better if you have room. Ideally you would demo existing floor to the joists, install new 3/4" subfloor (bonus points if you can use tongue and groove), apply floor leveler, and install 1/2 tile backer. However, that's a lot of work, so the Ditra or equivalent can save some time/$. I have also used a primer that allows you to set new tile directly over existing. It seemed to work, but I can't vouch for its durability. The primer was so sticky it would pull your shoes off, but the thinset stood up on it even on glazed tile. HTH.
keep getting this black stuff running down my stucco. I guess it's mildew or mold. Last time I just go hand pump sprayer and filled it up with bleach/water and scrubbed it. Still doesn't get it off completely. Pain in the ass.
I have a tv mounted above a fireplace but it's far enough away and angled downward that it's not that bad of a viewing angle and it looks clean as hell. But it's in an otherwise relatively small basement living room so it made the whole thing feel roomier.
Had the head architect and landscape architect of my company come by my house and give me recommendations for my back patio. I have a feeling the budget is going to be a little more than I anticipated as the plan is 2x what I was originally thinking.
Any recommendations to find a good landscape architect? Also, any recs on a hose nozzles that don't suck?
Ah nice thanks for the info. My house is old and a little bit slopped, should i plan on using leveler in low spots (like less than 1/8”) if i plan on using ditra or am I fine just leaving it be?
I’m going to hang these tomorrow and see how it feels before doing anything to the other shutters and if I don’t like it I’ll just get new ones
Honestly not really. I’m a structural engineer so I don’t deal with those guys on work a lot. Also our guys who are LAs pretty much do civil engineering more than actual Landscape Architecture .
Spend 5 minutes with a level finding the worst spots/fall. When you spread your thinset under the Ditra, lay your trowel flatter (lower ridges) in those areas, creating a thicker bed. I will use a small finish nail driven into the subfloor like a grade stake to indicate how much build I need in low spots. Once I am up to the nail, drive it down with a hammer to get it out of the way. When using a thicker bed under the Ditra, be sure to allow a little more drying time, so you don't footprint your low spot back into it. Pay special attention around the commode (for flat/level) and make sure the commode flange is above the finished floor.
I think you can’t go wrong either way. White is a cleaner look, IMO, but the wood stain is sharp and won’t show dirt like the white will.
lechnerd This may have already been discussed in this topic but have you really fucked with bat houses? The house we move into next month is on a small lake and my daughter gets huge welts when she gets bit by mosquitoes
My brother has one and he absolutely loves it. He has some 50+ft trees in his back yard and put one in a couple years ago. They have had great success with it, it has really cut down on their mosquitoes.
What are the vertical lines going down in each of the boxes on your garage door? It looks like it's paint drip, but I doubt it is. Also, that shutter goes with the window further from the garage right? Size looks off to me.
Never heard of this before. After a quick google search, that looks pretty cool. Are they loud at night? I wonder why South Florida government hasn't tried to encourage bats.

Bats are pretty damn quiet. Our neighbors behind us have bats in their trees and sometimes you can see them swooping in the moonlight but you can't really hear them. I don't think they make much noise at all. At least, that is how it is with the types of bats who are native to the Cincinnati area.
yeah these shutters aren’t for the windows in the picture. I have bigger shutters for those obviously but these are the only ones I’ve stained so far. And idk you can’t see those lines in real life oh well another reason iPhone is superior to android gbr
