I play a lot of 2k. I like the idea of takeover but it kind of ruins the game with a Pure Sharpshooter gets it. They can shoot from halfcourt like it's a FT. My squad has two sharps so it works to our benefit but it honestly makes the game unfair.
20 pages of dudes pining away for the return of our video overlords. Literally the slightest window of opportunity for return and the bitching about the game starts. Never change, TMB.
haha so true. My comment wasn't meant to be bitching as I don't mind microtransactions. If I were a broke 22 year old, I'd hate them. As a 40 year old, I'll gladly pay for any advantage I can get. The more the merrier imo. Fuck around and let me buy a team full of 99's across the board.
My UTEP Miners won back to back BCS bowl games after a grueling first two seasons, with only 1 loss in those last two years. That was quite the accomplishment.
As has probably already been stated ITT a few times (and by me), the best team to play with for a challenge was Idaho. Cool stadium.
Lol, a working group won't work that fast, a 2021 game maybe. A lot can happen in a year, but I cant imagine even a late release happening this year
If the game is ever able to be made again, I fully expect EA to put it out at least three years after the announcement.
That's all NCAA ever was anyway. The previous year's Madden, reskinned with fewer features and yet SOMEHOW still a better game
i don't know. it always felt different to me. not quite a different engine. but, definitely not madden to me.
Yea didn't feel like Madden to me either. I'm sure they shared some things but didn't feel like Madden with new uniforms and players.
I always though ncaa felt twitching/faster, in a fun way, change of direction and agility/acceleration felt different to me, but maybe that’s just me misremembering.
Depended on the year. The 07 version gameplay was so loose and twitchy, juke button wasn’t even necessary
Holy shit would this make me happy. Too bad fans of schools like mine would probably not make the first couple of seasons I would guess.
Cameras were definitely different on NCAA vs. Madden too. Just the dynamic way the camera followed the action felt more fun. A lot of that probably had to do with needing that camera quickness for option offenses. But really if all NCAA did was add new cut scenes year to year I was happy. A good game not changing year-to-year is still a good game imo if the presentation kept getting better. (See: Show, The).
I could buy upgrades? I don't remember that. I don't remember spending a dollar on the game after purchasing it.
Got curious so I googled it. I guess it was there in Dynasty mode. I never saw it when playing on online. As I said earlier, I play 2k mostly now. Most top tier teams play fully boosted, meaning +5 to every attribute for every game. No idea how much I spend on it overall but I earn VC during every game but I've definitely spent hundreds of dollars on microtransactions. Hell you have to pay just to upgrade your guys from a 65 to an 85. Costs $50 to do that. Or you can play month and months to do it. The game is not playable online without upgrading your player. On a more appreciative note, I personally thank EA for not shoving microtransactions to the forefront. The rampant product placement in the game, from Nissan to Under Armor, is a necessary evil considering how ingrained parasitic corporate interest is in real life college sports. But EA could have easily been asking players to cough up cash for features in every menu of the game. The opportunity is there, whether you want to buy skills for your Dynasty Coach or new cards for Ultimate Team to speed things along, but it’s always in the background.
My favorite ncaa games were the ps2 versions after the next gen games were out. They put so little effort into them, some of the user catch/swat animations were so supercharged that if you were a nerd like me and perfected triggering them in practice mode you’d be literally unstoppable with the deep ball. I played with WKU online and smoked everyone using lsu/osu/etc.
ncaa 14 they removed the strafe button on defense. bring back the fucking strafe button. also i loved the skill trees and whatnot for coaching in dynasty. more of that please. best way to play was online dynasty with 3-4 others so you can actually get several seasons in.
I feel you. I don't mind it bc it's honestly cheaper than other vices (poker room, strip club, etc). My two teammates on my squad at about going to hit 98 overall in the next couple weeks. That allows them to buy a mascot outfit. It's about $60 per mascot uniform lol. Granted they don't have to, but damn its hard not to when you work to get all the way to 98. The worst part by far is that it costs $50 to go from 60 to 85 though. I made 2 players this year shortly after the game came out and didn't like either of them. It's ridiculous that you have to pay $50 just to make the player an 85 and be able to use him. It's even worse that it's kind of trial and error with height/weight/arms/build/etc. I made the first two and after a few days didn't like either of them. That was $100 I just lit on fire. I may have 20 games between those two combined.
I wish 2K Games got the rights to this again. I will die on the hill of NFL 2k5 being the best football game ever
The grinding required in that game is almost as offensive as the microtransactions. Getting to 98 takes an absurd amount of "playing" time which is actually just pointlessly putting up insane stats against the computer for hundreds of hours. I like the game but there's no way I'll get past 92 and I feel like I've played a considerable amount. Just refuse to do the meta-gaming grinding that's required to progress at all.
Definitely had the ability to purchase players for the legacy mode thing, or whatever it was. Like you could buy card packs and get a "gold" version barry sanders to have on your team. Whereas the free packs might give you that for a handful of games if you're lucky, and more likely to get a full-time mid-level guy.
Madden gameplay has become too realistic. The NCAA games around 04-08 were always so fun because if you recruited a Mike Vick guy, you could break off 80 yard TD runs left and right and big plays happened all the time. Now with today's gameplay that same guy would have 4 yard carries over and over again with a 12 yarder thrown in once a quarter. Just my IMO
Yea I refuse to do MyCareer. I paid a buddy to grind my badges for me. I think he played about 40 MyCareer games and then some Rec. I have about 1500 park games and I'm only a 94. I'll probably hit 96 but that's as high as I'm going.
