I haven't had any time to listen to the entire National album, but what I heard has been good. Here is the download link for the next day. I like the addition of the female voices. This seems to be a trend this year with the bigger established indie bands. deleted
I am digging it, seems kind of like they found a good balance of the melancholy of the last album and the more upbeat stuff from previous albums
I definitely love it. I still feel like I want to see them get back to being even more upbeat, quirky, and I love when they have songs that build in intensity. I feel the material is making some of the concerts more melancholy then they were in the past. Ultimately I want to see how they blend the new material into their show before I fully judge. I need to listen a few more times, since it is such a big album, but I am missing songs like... Karen All the Wine Lucky You Apartment Story Brainy Vanderlyle My favorites so far are... You had your soul with you (which has been out for awhile) Quiet Light The Pull of You Hey Rosey Hairpin Turns Rylan
Omni is so freaking good And wow Bottom of the Hill has booked some amazing acts way before they ever approached the big time
The building songs are by far their best live. I hope I am not coming to see them in Brooklyn for a more melancholy show.
i'm more on the sour side of the national album but I think in a concert setting it could mix well with the rest of their catalog
Love melancholy The national as a recording. At a live show too much can be a buzz kill. Last tour was a little too melancholy for me.
I saw them in Asheville last year and didn't think they were bad at all. Good show. Thanks for the heads up, googling tour dates now
This Morabeza Tobacco album is pretty enjoyable in a light hearted indie pop type of way. Kind of like an Ariel Pink meets Chvrches meets Beach House type of feel.
didnt realize olden yolk made a new album, their album last year I felt like was one of the more underrated releases of 2018
Guys... the new Head and the Heart album “Living Mirage” is just fantastic... it’s been on steady shuffle/replay mode for me. Also there’s an LP from a band called Barrie... LP is “Happy to be Here”... also very good... not as good at TH&TH tho
My 2017 best of list featured her She and Chris Cohen are two artists I adore that no one else seems to dig. But glad you're on board too She filmed a music video across the street from me a couple summers ago
I didn't know if anyone else posted this. But I'm really sad as well. Do you have any recommendations as far as bands similar to them?
Dehd for sure. They broke up so a member could focus on that band Post Animal or Twin Peaks maybe because of Chicago ties. Hoops (RIP ) maybe. Melkbelly, Ducktails, and The Courtneys maybe up your alley I dunno they had a pretty unique sound to me. The Drums maybe
The entire album is great. And it's caused me to go back and rediscover Modern Vampires - which is one of the best indie/alternative rock albums ever recorded. If you don't think so, you're just wrong.
