She lives the stories, her life motto is Dumbledore's iconic "Of course it's happening inside your head Harry, but why on Earth should that mean that it isn't real?" So by that standard, this was really heart breaking. Somewhat related, I'm still holding on to a theory that Melisandre reviving Jon in the books is not as simple as it happened in the show. Iirc, in Dance Jon is reaching out for Ghost in his mind as the chapter ends, what's to say he doesn't warg and live within Ghost while his body is dead, then returns to his body after Mel revives him? Unsure if it matters to others, but I sorta have an issue with quasizombie Jon living beyond the end of the story unless he never fully died. This would do that imo.
One of the bigger issues with ghost was the pushing to the side of the direwolves in general by the show. Book readers hated it because they were featured more prominently in the books and some really cool scenes. How hard would it have been to show Bran coming up with summers name on the show? Not to mention the significant foreshadowing it does wrt what Bran becomes. Giving Ghost a proper send off would’ve in my opinion alleviated a lot of the gripes where the direwolves are concerned. But alas, we get disappointment for the sake of disappointment. It’s the only way this send off is being handled
I mean, honestly I would’ve liked it better if Ghost died off screen against the army of the dead and Jon has a moment with his dead body before he lights the pyres.
No shit, dude. Ima dog guy and the direwolves are cool. Ghost especially is a developed character. That being said congratulations on being the 1 millionth bro on earth to reply to that complaint in the exact same way tho. You guys are doing the lords work.
As someone who drank a 13.5% beer in mere minutes, I just want to say I couldn’t give less of a fuck who sits the iron throne God willing, Drogon takes a massive shit on it
I have a theory right now that they don't even like the story/show anymore. Like a really good athlete that eventually hates the sport they play, they're that way with the Game of Thrones universe.
Do they do seperate discussion from their talk the thrones livestream ? Cause on that they basically never criticize the show. Jason will likely slightly hint at it.
It's a shame that they were the ones who ended up with it. They had a great idea of turning the books into a series rather than movies but I don't they're particularly talented and were clearly in over their heads. They had to redo the pilot because it was so bad and they didn't know how to make a show. They did a great job adapting the books but everything that made the show as great as it is was because of the writing/plot(which was already established for them in the books) and the great cinematography/cast/cg that is provided by HBO's basically unlimited budget. They brought very little to the table outside of a passion and knowledge of the series(even they admit.) Seems like once that passion ran out it all went to shit. Imagine someone of Vince Gilligan's caliber was able to finish this series. Imagine how great Dany's descent to madness would be portrayed.
New ringer episode is out and they pointed out something I missed while hate watching the last episode. That varys was actually trying to poison Dany using his little birds. Fuck that dude.
"After finally arriving at Mt. Doom, Frodo refuses to destroy the ring. Gollum appears out of nowhere and takes it and falls in, destroying it. That's not the end of the story though. That's only like halfway. Later the Hobbits return home and have to fight off Saruman all over again, driving him out of the Shire." The ending to LOTR sounds anti-climactic as fuck. On page it's beautiful.
I have to wonder, after actually seeing how bad that was I wonder if he changes the ending. Spoiler he isn't even turning out winds of winter let alone an ending.
We can argue all day on whether this is truly Martin's ending or not. For me, it’s pretty obvious he wouldn’t be in this position if truly knew how he wanted to end the series and and how to get there.
Have you ever seen a show with so much money, network support, critical acclaim, and audience-viewership to be ended so half-assedly? It'd be one thing if the show was cancelled and no one was watching. It'd be understandable if the Network was being dicks and not letting the creators execute their vision. But this is a show that everything going for it, and this is the kind of shit we had to deal with.
You know, I could swallow the disappointment of the final two seasons a lot more easily if George was delaying/working on the last book in the series. But to think that we're all wondering if we'll ever get just the second to last book, and then---if we ever do---there's another decade (lol) before the actual last book... B&W deserve all kinds of hate, but George is the real mastermind behind all this angst.
I don't think so, but I don't think he's far enough into thinking about Dream to realize that. Honestly, I don't see how he's going to get Winds to fit into a single volume. He already had to push two major battles off of Dance, meaning however much real estate those take is that much more on top of whatever he had in mind for Winds. I've never thought he could do this in seven. It took him three books to tell the first of three "stories" in this series. Everything from Game-Storm was supposed to be "A Game of Thrones." Shoot Feast and half of Dance wasn't even supposed to happen. He was supposed to do a time skip and just decided to write it instead. He's only just NOW getting back to where he wanted things to be after 2000's A Storm of fucking Swords. He needs another fifty years of life, a constant dosage of adderall, and at least two more books on top of what he's already announced.
George blogged this morning about his projects, but blog itself is down. https://www.theverge.com/2019/5/21/...thrones-whats-next-video-game-winds-of-winter It does not include a release date
Yeah apparently he’s been consulting with Miyazaki on From’s next project. Really got his nose to the grindstone with the there books of his
He wrote a big blog entry thanking everyone involved in the show, said the book is still being written, and then talked about all the other stuff he's doing (producing a ton of TV, writing the story for a video game, eating doritos, etc)
