I’m not sure if this is explained by some things bwi2 specified yesterday wrt to strengthening an impeachment case, which was also something I alluded too based on things Nadler did that *appeared* to be slowing processing we’d like to see move faster. However, based on the rules (the ones that actually need to be followed, not norms) and the court system, this process is closer to 4D chess than anything trump has done. Sure popular opinion and bipartisan support for impeaching a criminal in office would be swell. But what would be TERRIBLE is a rushed and utterly failed impeachment attempt on process because the Dems jumped the gun. Then it can be spun as an exoneration by the Neanderthals on Fox.
Just because you open impeachment hearings doesn’t mean you are rushing the process. Those investigations will take time (as evidenced by the stonewalling of the Trump administration).
Ya if initiating it doesn’t make them step on their own feet down the line I agree. Then it’s really an optics consideration. Just wanting to bring up that possibility we should consider.
