some good Maldives content from this Esquire employee. watch his IG story before it expires...he's on a preview stay of the brand new Waldorf Astoria, and also the underwater 'residence' at Conrad Rangali Island. https://www.instagram.com/stories/musingmutley/

Highly highly recommend going to Santorini. Had a blast with some of the best dinner views I’ve ever had.
Settled on doing the honeymoon in Costa Rica. Staying at Pacuare River Lodge, Nayara Gardens and Nayara Springs, and then a TBD hotel probably around Las Catalinas. Particularly excited about the Pacuare River Lodge, since you have to raft to get there http://www.pacuarelodge.com/ Any tips, critiques, recommendations appreciated, especially with respect to the beach (Las Catalinas).
Just finishing a week in NZ, mostly the South Island. Loved Queenstown, Wanaka and most of the drive to Milford. We had a crazy weather day at Milford so that part wasn’t as enjoyable had the weather cooperated. Also really liked the bus ride between Christchurch and Blenheim. There’s a train that takes a similar route but it doesn’t run this time of year. The bus was easy to find, relatively cheap and comfortable. Kaikoura is a good stop over on that route. Probably wouldn’t stop in Christchurch again; although, we had a nice day there. We had some down time in Auckland, mostly Ponsonby, which we enjoyed. Hope to get a chance to explore the North more next time. Also want to go to Abel Tasman, Nelson and Mt Cook. Beautiful country overall though, up there with Switzerland and Vietnam for me.
Looking to do some traveling/hiking later this summer in NE Canada near the coast. Thinking of St. Johns, Newfoundland area to base out of to start. Any recs or better places?
I haven't been but a friend's mom lives near there. It's named after a captain dildo and they say dildo brewing and the museum are really cool. The pictures I've seen are beautiful

Alright, so at the beginning stages of planning a South Africa trip this December/January with a couple of buddies. Would for sure like to go to Cape Town and Kruger but where else do we go? How long should we stay at each? Johannesburg seems like the easiest city to fly into from abroad but isn't that great from a tourism perspective? Basically, I don't know that much so I need recommendations/guidance.
I'm going in December and flying into jburg, safari from there in the Kruger, then a week in cape Town and venturing out from there. It's what most do
Jo-burg is definitely the easiest to fly into. If you can find good prices, Delta operates a non-stop from Atlanta to Jo-burg, other than that you're going to have 20+ hours and a connection in Europe or Northern Africa. Not much in Jo-burg, like Ark said the most common route is fly into Jo-burg and immediately drive to Kruger, like a 3-4 hour drive. Do that for 3-4-5 days, depending on your budget, then over to Cape Town. I would think 5-6 days at a minimum in Cape Town, but a full week would be ideal. The city itself is incredible, but the stuff around it -- shark diving, wine country, hiking, driving around the cape -- each of those is a day trip in its own right. You could just wait until late April/early May and go to Afrikaburn, too.
I have a co-worker who I don't get along with very well (documented in the "annoying co-worker" thread). Anyways, her and husband just returned from 2 weeks in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong/Macau/Shanghai. Cool trip. Walk by her office this morning, ask her about the favorite food. Out of all of these amazing culinary destinations, her favorite was: Bubba Gump Shrimp. They went three times. And Jesus wept.
That's actually just plain pitiful. I have a lead consultant that is similar. Will only eat americanized food when he travels abroad. Sad really. One the best parts of going to S. Korea, Vietnam and Thailand last year was the fucking food. Anytime I could try something new, I did. I've heard amazing things about the food in Singapore and Hong Kong. Some buddies went to an EDM festival in Hong Kong last year. All they talked about was how good the food was. Can't wait for my next Asia trip.
My Fiance and I are planning our honey moon. What is the cheapest/best way to book an extended layover? So for example we are going to Nairobi and Paris, but would like to stay in London for 2 nights in the beginning of the trip. We would connect there anyway, so what is the best way to go about it?
Would be all over that. Need a summer Scandinavian holiday--Lofoten, Svalbard, get into the Arctic Circle. There's a festival in Iceland I believe during the summer solstice, the sun doesn't set for 3 full days. Music plays the whole 72 hours. Not sure I'd make it back from that one.
I've only stumbled across extended layovers, have never searched for them intentionally. I would think you'd just have to book separate tickets, unfortunately. Also, can take the train between London and Paris in only 2 1/2 hours, so that could be another option.
Having done both a couple years ago taking a train between Paris and London is way better then flying.
Some airlines will allow you to book a layover if you go through the advanced search option. I know British Airways allows this on award tickets, so I would assume a paid ticket you could.
You shouldn't have to book separate tickets for an extended layover, but 2 nights may be pushing it on a single fare. May be worth a call to the airline to book it that way.
I spent some time in Durban. The water is a lot warmer due to the Indian Ocean. I stayed at a surfing hostile on the beach so it was a lot of chilling out but fun. Also, look into seeing if you can do a flight up to Victoria Falls for a couple of nights. Livingstone is cool.
There’s a Bubba Gump near the top of the Observation Deck on the Peak in HK. Always wondered what type of person goes in there.
Not bad Would probably skip out on this show though. The band all look like druids and are performing some kind of Celtic seance. (Edit: Actually, that sounds awesome. Would not miss.) More info (aka haven't watched)
What rental agency and cost (including the no deductible insurance)? Standard or Automatic? We will be renting in Milan later this year. Still researching the options.
Looking at those Traena videos got me into one hell of a wormhole (thanks, Arkadin), and now I legit want to go to the Air Guitar World Championships. How fucking absurd. I bet it's a blast, and I've never been to Finland.
Three nights in Boston and four in Hyannis in early June. Anything I should be aware of? Probably doing some Freedom Trail stuff, maybe hit Harvard since I've got a high-achieving junior, Constitution because I like Navy Things. From Hyannis we plan on Plymouth, the Cape, and maybe Newport RI as short trips. I figure since I've stood on a corner in Winslow Arizona I also need to dance in the streets of Hyannis. Red Sox aren't in town, but I'm not sure I need to go to New Fenway since it isn't the Original anyway
Giacomo's is good. Cash only, line out the door to wait for a table. Small inside but they turn tables pretty quickly.
This is the one I'm talking about, I think same as you https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaur...988-Reviews-Giacomo-Boston_Massachusetts.html
