Giacomos is damn good. It's been surpassed for me by Prezza. Bucatini is Bolognese are tits at Prezza. If you go to Cambridge, eat at Henrietta's Table for brunch. It's so damned good. Chipped Beef with a fried egg is got damn delicious. Beehive is another good spot for brunch. Get the Eggs Shahshuka. If you're drinking, we really enjoy Bostonia Public House. Also has a great brunch and one of the better scotch collections in Boston. Black Rose has a sassy Irish bartender. She'll drink you under the table when management is close by. Myers & Chang for Asian fusion. Damn good.
It really is damn good. The servers drink wine while they are working. When they show up at your table, be ready to order. They'll walk away otherwise. Get in line early. Doors open at 4:30pm and the line will be around the corner by 3:45. It's worth it.
Last month I met user Jean-Ralphio at Panza across the street from Giacomo's. Food was excellent and while we waited 30 minutes or so, I can't imagine the food at Giacomo's was so much better that it would justify waiting in the line that stretched around the block, but I guess it comes down to how much vacation time you want to spend waiting around. If you're going to be at Harvard Mr Bartley's is an outstanding burger and cool atmosphere.
Next time you're in Seattle, if you don't offer the same courtesy I'm going to be extremely upset. May even make a disparaging comment or two.

Priority pass is pretty fucking useless a lot of the time In O'Hare and you can't get to a single fucking lounge bc the transfer is only for intl flights
It's remarkable how much better Atlanta is in almost every category vs every other major domestic airport
When it's not useful it is supper fucking annoying. Also ORD's fault bc they don't have a fucking train between terminals

Are you already locked in on Hyannis for 4 nights? I went to Newport/Hyannis/Cape Cod/Boston in the Fall and thought Hyannis was kind of a dump. Newport was awesome and I would try to spend at least a night or two there.
currently booking Beloved Playa Mujeres for wife's 30th. Rated as #11 on TripAdvisors all-inclusive list, but that combined with the fact we are goign the week after christmas, and every other nice place is booked up or expensive as hell, this was pretty reasonable. Smaller, quieter than the normal options, adult-only, this will be a nice 4-night reprieve from our almost 3 year old and 1 year old at the time of the trip.
I've never done the all-inclusive thing, but I have many friends with newborns and toddlers that have gone that route just for the reprieve you mention. I 100% get it.
Wife and I have stayed at the Excellence Playa Mujeres right next door to this. Make sure to take the ferry out to Isla Mujeres one of the days. Playa Norte out on the isle is way nicer than the beach Beloved and Excellence are on.
had this at the top of my list if we decide to take this type of vacation for years the rooftop private pool seems nice
We had a rooftop pool room and honestly it wasn't worth it. They're not heated so unless you go peak summer they're not warm enough to enjoy just lounging in.
ohhaithur Arkadin I can't find the credit card thread. I hit my bonus and used all my AAdvantage miles (2 tickets from Spain back to Seattle for $11 ) Learn me on how to churn the next AA card(s) for more 60K bonuses. When/how/etc. Much obliged.
We've got an airbnb on the water somewhere, so if nothing else we can chill out with a nice view. We were thinking that we'd use Hyannis as a base of operations for going to Plymouth, the Cape, and Newport but not actually do much in Hyannis itself.

that is the room we are doing, but it was less about the rooftop pool and more about more privacy being in a little casita, and having a 2nd story room that has easy access, isn't on ground floor, and the balcony will be used. primary lay out and water time will be at beach/pool. I was surprised there is not much added cost for one of these rooms compared to the lowest price junior suite. Otherwise I may not do it, but the perks outweighed the small cost add thanks for the tip! i understand all-inclusive isn't for everyone nor every trip, but for a get away, pure relaxation, don't want to do anything or make decisions, its perfect. Limited food options so no decision fatigue, quiet, limited attendees, but can go walks on beach for people watching etc. Can't wait
Finalized my first trip to Europe for July: July 5 - 8 in Barcelona (Airbnb with 3 buddies) July 8 - 10 in Prague (Airbnb with 3 buddies) July 10 - 14 in Hvar (Airbnb with 3 buddies) July 14 - 16 in Dubrovnik (Airbnb solo) July 16 - 19 in Amsterdam (St. Christopher's Inn Hostel, solo) July 19 - 21 in London (solo, TBD on airbnb/hostel) Flying back to San Diego on the 21st I've scoured this thread for recs on bars/activities/meals etc, but does anyone else have any input on that front? Much appreciated.
We are actually probably doing a Hostel in Barcelona, but Airbnb's are already booked for Prague, Hvar, and Dubrovnik . We have 4 outgoing dudes, we figured it wouldn't be too hard to meet up with people/chicks at the bars.
Did you book through Hostelworld? Granted it was in 2012 (fuck that's depressing), but I stayed in St. Christopher's in Amsterdam and hated it. In all my travels one of the worst I've stayed in. It will by hot AF that time of year and they didn't have AC at that time. But again, that was 7 years ago. Re: Hvar -- Hula Hula is an awesome bar for sunset. Kiva Bar is a great spot. I'd definitely keep the airbnb in Dubrovnik, not much of a nightlife, will probably be good to chill out after partying in Hvar. Don't imagine you'll have trouble meeting people in Barca or Prague regardless.
I booked directly through St. Christopher's Inn website (https://www.st-christophers.co.uk/hostels/europe/amsterdam). They have a couple of hostels in Amsterdam, I'm staying at The Winston and not the Flying Pig. I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but that's not what I like to hear haha. Thanks for the recs for Hvar.I definitely plan to recuperate in Dubrovnik and do more sightseeing/relaxing after Hvar.
There is some pretty intense nightlife in Dubrovnik. Culture club or whatever is nuts all night right outside the old city. Few other places I don't recall right now
I didn't look very hard, and was pretty exhausted after Hvar. Only went out 1-2 nights. My foot was also the size of a watermelon after getting bit by some spider/insect in Hvar and then going swimming.
I'm sure you'll be fine, it won't make or break the trip. Maybe you'll get a good story out of it. In the future, I'd recommend booking through hostelworld because they have free cancellation up until like 48 hours before your stay.
That’s why I booked direct. Had the best reviews on Hostelworld but everyone said to book direct for that reason.
General boarding on the train from NY to Boston is terrible; loaded with assholes who want their own space so they just put their bags in the seat next to them. It’s a total crapshoot on who guesses the correct track so you can board first which makes it worse if you’re wrong since Penn Station is such a cluster
I'll have to remember the name of the restaurant in Hyannis but the GF and I had one of our best meals there over a year ago and still talk about it. Had a cheese plate, some oysters, beers, and swordfish chop. Amazing.
