The Highwomen made their public debut last night at Loretta Lynn's birthday celebration, singing Kitty Wells' "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels." Amanda Shires, Maren Morris, Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby.
And starting out with a banger. Wasn’t Margo supposed to be in this? Or did she back out because she’s due soon?
Clown Baby Isbell just played Jesus Just Left Chicago and I'm So Glad with WSP at 420 Fest. Hope you enjoyed it too!
11 months ago but this probably wont be released for at least another 6 months so timing works out pretty well
Goldsmith is a pretty prolific songwriter. Seems like he’s always workshopping the next album on the tour for the one just released.
Album’s been done for months. Just on him to decide when he wants to release it and start the cycle up again.
https://www.savingcountrymusic.com/...ew-album-its-definitely-not-a-country-record/ Sturgill then iterated some insight on his upcoming record. “We just finished the record last week that I’ve been working on for a year (meaning he finished the record in early November, 2018). It’s definitely not a country record. I can’t question these things. You can’t question these things. You’ve just got to put art on your timeline first, and all the other shit really doesn’t matter I guess is what I’ve come to see and realize.”
Seeing Matthew Logan Vasquez tonight. Really enjoy his solo albums but I hope there’s a good bit of Delta Spirit sprinkled in.
When I saw him play solo, he only played his solo stuff. I think that Delta Spirit breakup was pretty bad, so he just doesnt play any of it.
It’s my understanding that the reason Delta Spirit disbanded is because MLV shared publishing rights with the entire band despite being the principal songwriter. Copyright money is all in the publishing. So, I think (hope) he’ll still play Delta Spirit stuff despite having to share any public performance rights with his former bandmates but that’s the reason he went solo.
Not pertinent to the thread, but tangential, RTJ recorded with him too recently. Some great music is coming out this year
My brother just surprised me tonight with tickets to Isbell and John Moreland in Omaha in August. Can’t fucking wait.
Our very own Capstone 88 was manning a jukebox earlier and put on DBT. His first three songs: Goddamn Lonely Love, Danny/Manuel, and Where the Devil Don't Stay. Talk about luck.
Got Trashcan and Bushwick Blues, so you we’re right. He did however make the announcement that Delta Spirit is gonna reunite soon (atleast for some festival). But the best part of the evening is that I got to meet him and he couldn’t have been a cooler, more down to earth guy.
So glad he is playing some of it and hope they get back together. He seems like a chill dude, and you confirm it.
