Certainly don't expect anyone to change their fandom, a fan doesn't have a real connection to the owner. If people bash any success you have though if it's done in the City/PSG way, think you have to take it and realize that the underbelly of the club is just being a play thing for terrible people. There's also Malaga, whose Qatari owner tried buying success and started buildings all over the city and then just decided he didn't want to fund it anymore and fucked over the club and the city.
Do people apply the same logic of doing things the right way when it comes to college football/basketball recruiting?
Yeah I’ve lost a lot of interest in football and basketball for the same reason. We just got a 5 star commitment today and it’s a bit embarrassing wondering what we paid for him.
Oil money is only ok if its from a Russian oligarch who cant even get a Visa into the country that the club he owns is located in.
yes. Although it bothers me less when a millionaire gives a few thousand dollars to a kid that is being forced to work for free
Good to know Ohio state, Bama, Clemson, uga fans would be funny criticizing teams for not doing things the right way
Wow. Wow. Wooooow. An open attack from a member of the Dawgeye alliance. I didn’t expect to be stabbed in the back today but here we are
This would be a fair argument if you were doing it publicly. Doing it under the table just perpetuates the problem.
Oh, you were actually being serious with your ridiculous comparison. Maybe if some human trafficker were paying players under the table it would compare to City/PSG
Chelsea are also a sustainable company at this point and don't have phony commercial deals and shell companies paying players
Well, we've had some absolutely compelling and outstanding arguments on TSB over the weekend. British sports journalists would be proud.
In a sport with no salary cap I'm not sure why anyone gets this worked up about teams spending as much money as they want. I hate City but would love it if someone took over Spurs and started buying all the best players in the world.
There's definitely a problem when you have countries buying clubs for propaganda purposes. Also, this is how you end up with the World Cup in fucking Qatar.
I wouldn't necessarily say that, maybe contentment. I also float about 3 inches off the ground and above you with my smugness of doing things the right way.
you have to think watson wouldnt be saying all these hurtful things if we were owned by a white man. its sad that my fellow liberal doesnt realize how hateful and disparaging he's being towards muslims and people of color. i can't believe he doesnt see how wrong he is.
Pro tip, if you're frustrated that all of your arguments are instantly dismissed for being bad faith/disingenuous/moronic and you feel hopelessly emasculated, it would probably be best to stop being the way you are.
The cap is the revenue you earn plus a bit on top for owner investment. It's the rules like our salary cap, they've broken them before and got a fine. Broke them even more, cooked their books, and now should get their CL ban.
This is just a lame excuse to avoid having to admit when you're wrong. That's why I frustrate people because I am smart enough to point out the flaws in their argument.
That's what I'm asking you, what is the intrinsic value in rooting for Spurs? Why Spurs? What keeps you from switching allegiance? There is clearly something more than just winning. Or at least there should. That's the problem with clubs like Manchester City. There is nothing about the club that makes Shaun, Tobias, NittanyKnight or Walt Disney root for Manchester City. Had the Sheik bought Everton, they would be Everton fans right now. You root for a club because you want what is special about that club to come together to create and enjoy the success. If you're ok with someone just buying your club and purchasing success, there was nothing about your club that brought success. It's essentially a new club with its entire culture based on the pockets of the new owner. If you're ok with winning that way, why would you be opposed to just switching clubs? The mere fact the name on the shirt is the same as the old?
